USC Morning Buzz: Monday Notes

If anyone tries to convince you that USC ticket sales are not down this year, just remember donors are being an opportunity to improve their seats . . . in a stadium that will have a capacity of 77,500 after being 80,000 last season and 93,000 in 2016.

  • Former USC assistant soccer coach Laura Janke is set to plead guilty Tuesday to conspiracy to commit racketeering. She was responsible for helping Donna Heinel create fake athlete profiles to present to the USC admissions office.
  • Actress Felicity Huffman is set to officially plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud.
  • USC got swept in a two-game baseball series at Arizona. The third game was not played because of the possibility of inclement weather. It was actually sunny when USC departed but the Trojans had a plane to catch back to L.A. after booking a bus late Saturday night because they agreed to play a doubleheader.
  • The move irked Arizona (24-24) because it needs games to try and get some wins for a possible berth in the NCAA Tournament. After the game was canceled, Arizona turned a scheduled game today with Sam Houston State into a doubleheader.
  • Do you think USC really cares at this point if it plays all its baseball games? The Trojans are 20-26-1 overall and 9-13-1 in the Pac-12. The season cannot end fast enough.
  • The USC women’s track team won the Pac-12 title Sunday night in Tucson. The USC men’s team finished fifth. Oregon won its 13th straight men’s conference title.

  1. What happened to the USC Men’s Track Program? Did we lose too many seniors from last year or did injuries take their toll? The ruins punked us at the dual meet and now this unacceptable performance at the Pac 12 championships. Who goofed?

    1. Team lost both Norman and Benjamin leaving early who would have dominated their events. Head Coach Gilbert lacking on the Men side
      with her main concern the Women of Troy. Scholarship limits is a factor
      though. Need a new throws coach with no improvements from the
      performers to make an impact when it counts.

        Looking at the SC schedule through the first 6 games. Holy Toledo. Talk about a grinder. Honestly, I question whether Coach Helton can keep morale high if things go south on those first 6 games. JT better put a lot of points on the board & Stepp better stay healthy.
