When did Tucson become a football recruiting hotbed?
When USC offered offered offensive tackle Jonah Miller yesterday, he became the fourth player from Salpointe High School offered by the Trojans. The others are running back Bijan Robinson, safety Lathan Ransom and offensive guard Bruno Fina.
The usual complaint from the University of Arizona is that there are not enough recruits in the Tucson area. Maybe things are different this year.
Ransom and Robinson are four-star prospects with more than 20 offers. The problem is none of these guys will probably actually sign with Arizona if they are highly recruited.
- Sometimes, it’s good to look at how other colleges operate. Illinois athletic director Josh Whitman holds his annual media roundtable today where he answers questions about the athletic dept. USC athletic director Lynn Swann has never done a round table since he was hired.
- Can you imagine how it would go if he did today? Questions about Clay Helton, Andy Enfield, the baseball coaching search, season-ticket sales, the college admissions scandal, the NCAA investigating the basketball program, autograph shows, the new school president’s view of Swann . . . fugget about it.

I hope and pray that bum is gone by the end of June 30, 2020. Folt shows up on July 1, 2019, and the new fiscal year starts. SC would have to pay for Swann to leave. However, if Swann doesn’t do any work at SC, then him collecting a check is like letting him go on July 1, 2019. However, if it true that an alumni is paying Swann’s salary, which I doubt, then that alumni would have to pay for his year for either working or not working.

“Oh,” said Swann. “Round table? I thought you were saying round of golf. Well Roundtable is a fine pizza, but if you want a good pizza get Papa John’s. Did you know they have a golf tournament? They got that football guy from Denver as their spokesperson…Now where were we? Are eating or playing golf?”
