USC Afternoon Notes: Leadership Emerges Elsewhere

Arizona State athletic director Ray Anderson has emerged as leader within the Pac-12 regarding officiating and helped lead the recent review that led to changes and more transparency. He even answered questions at media day with Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott and vice president for officiating, David Coleman.

Can you imagine USC athletic director Lynn Swann taking the lead on any issues confronting the Pac-12?

Maybe if they wanted to do a study on the effects of excessive rounds of golf and hours on a golf simulator on an administrator?

  • There are around 25 members of the 1969 team who have agreed to boycott the Aug. 17 scrimmage at the Coliseum. The latest are offensive linemen Fred Khasigian and Steve Lehmer. At this point I have not heard of a 1969 player who has agreed to attend.
  • USC has hired former assistant Dain Blanton as its new beach volleyball coach. Blanton has worked as a sports broadcaster besides being a volunteer assistant coach.

He follows a USC pattern of promoting assistant coaches.

  1. Khasigian started at guard from 67-69. Straight up guy. Now a orthopedic surgeon in Northern CA. From Fresno where his parents grew grapes on their farm. He used to bring large bags back of red grapes for everyone. I am sure he is pissed as well he should be. Swann can get out of his own way, what a turd.

    1. You need a certain minimum # of people —-say 12—- supporting each other with their own weight if you want to drive them around the field in a flatbed….

      1. Poor Owns, out in left field as always. Now that we have $2.5B to build a wall maybe Trump will allow some $ for a cage for bruin wannabes. You are such a rare species Owns. We want to preserve you and study such a rare mutant imposter.

      2. Don’t worry, there are plenty of brainless rah rahs who will volunteer to act as “filler” to give the appearance that the team showed up. They only need one or two Wild Bunch team members to defy the Troycott and take the humiliating ride on the flat bed and then President I Don’t Care-ol Folt will declare victory like Nancy Pelosi declared victory after the Mueller Meltdown Wednesday.

      3. P. S.
gt — there is a scene in Bugsy where Meyer Lansky tells Bugsy that he should stop talking about assassinating Mussolini, “or no one will ever take anything you ever say seriously again.” Maybe it’s time for Pelosi and Nadler to consider that.

The Felony U Beach Blanket Bingo Wallyball program must be ecstatic their new Head Coach, Dain Blanton has worked as a sports broadcaster AND a volunteer assistant coach. I bet this guy will have to take a second or third job to put food on the home table.

With all due respect to Mr. Blanton, the bozos have hired a virtual nobody, w/o a lick of Head Coaching experience in Div. 1 Wallyball, to lead the bozo u second-place team to the 2019 National Champions: UCLA (3 – 0)

    1. Mule,
When they passed out I.Q. points, you used your 2 to walk upright.
