USC basketball assistant coach Jason Hart is a candidate for the Loyola Marymount job, which recently opened, according to sources. Ironically, LMU coach Mike Dunlap was also a former USC assistant.
Hart has recruited pretty much every player on the roster outside of Isaiah Mobley and USC would not want to lose him. He got a new contract and raise three years ago to turn down becoming an assistant at Washington.
At the same time, Hart has wanted to become a head coach and expressed interest in openings the past couple seasons. And this would allow him to become a head coach and still live in his native Southern California.
That would be a tough loss. Jason has paid his dues as an assistant, and LMU has a good hoops tradition, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he did leave.

Jason Heart would be better off not taking the LMU job, for several reason, and he’d probably have to take a pay cut. Long Beach State, or some other in state commuter school would be a better choice.

“Ironically, LMU coach Mike Dunlap was also a former USC assistant.”
You mean coincidentally. What’s ironic is that a man whose profession relies on his use of the written word doesn’t know how to use the term correctly. Ever seen Reality Bites for crissakes?

He says the position is open then says LM coach. So is he the coach or not because if not then don’t confuse people and report him as former coach.
I mean go over the post before you hit send so we can follow without solving mysteries all the time with these errors.

Bo Kimble should apply for the job

I see it this way. Let Jason Hart become the head coach at LMU. Let him cut his teeth there. In three to four years bring him back as the SC head coach. He is good.
