USC wide receiver KD Nixon has hardly played since transferring from Colorado.
But he sort of summed up what USC football is all about this week when he talked about off-field aspects of being a Trojan.
“Off the field, I’m right by Hollywood,” Nixon said. “Every day, there’s people we’re meeting on campus. You’re meeting multi-billionaires and millionaires every day. You even meet actors and business man’s kids, because they attend USC. Having the opportunity to be around certain people that you would never experience (elsewhere) is a blessing.”
This is what USC sells. Not the football. Or the atmosphere. Or the development. It sells NIL. That’s Mike Bohn constantly talks about being the most athlete-friendly college in the nation. It’s a me, me, me mentality.
- I wonder if Coach Bohn will say hi to Colorado basketball coach Tad Boyle. Several sources tell me Boyle would be the frontrunner at USC if Andy Enfield leaves.
Great that KD is taking advantage of USC’s networking opportunities. This is a legitimate advantage that USC offers. Clay Helton’s player evaluation judgment led him to take KD as a transfer. KD should make the most of his time at USC.

I think it’s nice that Nixon talks to the millionaires and not just the billionaires…

That is all nice, but Nixon needs to know that USC is not just all about that. USC has a community outreach program that is more important. We are not just a bunch of money grabbers. I have often had to remind the kids that millionaires and billinaries do not run the class rooms. Maybe the board but not where we do the most good and that is at the the level of helping. This is the message. He should get that out of his head. We are not just a bunch of University spoiled children. That is the rumor out there. And, he adds to that rumor. Catching a football is a minor part of our mission. Get with it Nixon and come and talk to me. What an embrassing remark.

Watched the BYU vs Utah St. game and the difference between how those two teams play and how USC plays is like night and day.
BYU and Utah St. play focused, a lot of effort and intesity. USC plays lazy, no effort, selfish and undisciplined.
BYU and Utah St. players didn’t quit until the whistle, every player on the field engaged even when they were on the opposite side of the field, blocking whoever until the play was over.
Here are the highlights, check out the effort and intensity…really good game.

Mike Bohn, I TOLD YOU SO that this whole 2nd-rate Texas coaching staff THING in Los Angeles was unsustainable. Mike Bohn you have succeeded in rebranding USC as Texas Tech West. [whacking motion]

Mike Bohn, nice job soliciting the glowing article about Luke Fickell from Brady McCullough. You realize that the natives are still restless despite firing Clay Helton. Giving USC fans hope that we may get Fickell buys you and Carol Folt some time.

That’s the problem with the Trojan football players, those girls would rather be YouTuber’s and Tik Toker’s getting attention on social media rather than focusing on football
Those girls need to pick one, be a social media darling or Man Up and play football

Same thing happened to me when I was at USC in the 80’s.
Dr Buss spoke to a filled audience and taught us the present value of $ using Magic’s $1m contract as an example.
Also was in a study group with comedian Byran Allen who was millionaire and now is multi billionaire with vast media empire including The Weather Channel.
Met a ton of celebs at USC during the 4 years. It was quite easy.

The right coach will put all this nonsense in the past. Sure, they can sell the great connections from an SC degree, but the really good players care about getting into the NFL.
Our top coaches list should be:
1. Luke Fickell
2. Dave Aranda
Let’s stop looking backward at coaches who have been around for many years and had moderately good records. Let’s find the up-and-comer who is going to be the next Nick Saban. Fickell is proving it at Cincinnati and Aranda is going to be proving it this year and next year even more so. Aranda is a football savant, he is like Bobby Fisher at chess. I dont want to win, I want utter domination of our league and the CFP.
I want back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-back-to-back #1 recruiting classes at USC for the next decade. It is possible. Let’s not hire a coach who had glory 5 years ago. Let’s not hire Franklin at Penn State who is an also-ran to Ohio State. Let’s not hire Urban Meyer who is failing in the NFL.

Bohn likes to hire his buddies Fickle from Cincy, and Boyle from his time in Colorado.
First of all he needs to sign Enfield to an extension. What is he waiting for if he waits Enfield will leave. No way Tad Boyle should be even considered at this time or anytime.

With no skill coaching the players have little hope of playing professionally, so it’s good that they are networking for their careers outside of football.

There are absolutely no guarantees in the nfl or life in general, they need to network, get the degree, and learn how to make friends and influence people.

Agree completely with Aranda, and given he is at Baylor, should be able to get him with a good offer.

67 —Do you remember 2018? USC lost steam as the game wore on —the players didn’t believe in Helton’s system. That’s the feeling I got watching them in the Stanford and Oregon State games: they didn’t want to play football for 60 whole, long minutes… it was just too hard.
Win or lose I hope Donte gets them to play football for 4 quarters this Saturday.

Michael, though I picked an uninspired 27-20 , USC, I think there is a chance they could come up with more energy, like they did at Wazzu, and win something like 38-13. We will see soon…

Michael, it was so obvious then that Helton had to go. Had to. But what did we know, compared to AD Swann?

I see that possibility, too, 67. [It’s important to let the players play today. Stop signally different plays from the sideline with the play clock down to 10 seconds. Let the QB call the plays and let the players play. They’ll play faster]….

As to Swann –No one will ever know what went on with that extension. It smells so bad. Wish local media was a little less incurious.

If Aranda is a devout, Evangelical Christian, Clown U wouldn’t be a Univ. Aranda would seek for HC employment. SUCC is the antithesis of Baylor’s, Baptist General Convention of Texas religious affiliation.
I’m betting Aranda is real comfortable at Baylor and vice versa.
