Washington State Fires Nick Rolovich

Washington State coach Nick Rolovich was terminated for cause today after his exemption request from receiving a COVID-19 vaccine was denied.

Rolovich last just 11 games and he made $3 million a year at Washington State.

It’ll be a relief to no longer watch his unresponsive press conferences where he chose not to answer questions.

Defensive coordinator Jake Dickert is expected to replace Rolovich.

  1. HE is better off …since Leach took Miss St. job they are bottom feeders again, Rolo will find a better position elsewhere ,they were improving slightly with their q/b when he is healthy.

      1. No sh*t. Robert’s is the worst Dodgers Mgr. period. Worse than Jim Tracy, whose total piss-poor Dodgers mismanagement I thought could never be exceeded.

I mean you have pray in every Dodgers game that Robert’s isn’t forced to make some stupid tactical decision that cost the Dodgers another loss.

      2. I responded to one of your earlier posts comparing to what Royals fans suffered through with Ned Yost (leading to the local KC phrase “being Yosted”)…some of the other decisions are undoubtedly different, but the pitching decisions…completely agree – there were antecedents (but managers like Sparky Lyle and Dick Williams with better judgment, if not the intellectual acumen), but this is what I think of as the ‘Tony LaRussa Effect’ – the constant trying to be clever or giving in to impulse and making unnecessary changes that backfire (like pulling Scherzer out, and frying your league win leader so he won’t be as fully-rested for a necessary subsequent start). Recent job of managing that should be the model I think is (and I’m not a fan of the team, but credit is due) what the Washington Nats did two years ago (looked up name – Dave Martinez)…stuck with starters and relievers in tight spots, only made changes when required.

You give real Bruins a bad name with your not smart attempts at humor. The Cadre rarely goes after anyone other than a trojan but you might want to watch what you do from now on!

  2. FIRST AMENDMENT: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances” Rolo has a great cause for a lawsuit.

[You can skip an all encompassing health & safety argument since it’s legally insufficient AND, as a factual matter, no one has been injured by Nick’s decision —not one player has contracted Covid from exposure to the unvaccinated coaching staff]….

It’s a lot of fun to watch them in the field hearing the sheep…can’t save all of them though (don’t want the dog to go over the cliff). This is the part of Animals where I was never sure if Roger Waters was in a hurry when he used dogs instead of wolves in a starring role.

      8. and that is why I have come to hate liberals, even though I was once quite liberal myself.

the liberal retard believes he has all knowledge and all facts. but he is really just a brain-washed stooge of the corporate media complex. the liberal retard just thinks that if CNN publishes it, it must be fact.

and the lack of tolerance for people that have different viewpoints or beliefs is just absurd and is the really deplorable thing.

more than anything liberalism has become fascism, where business and government collude to crush any individualism that deviates from the best interests of the most powerful. whatever became of the intellectual curiosity and concern for the constitutional right to freedom of speech, freedom of association and freedom to make our own choices about healthcare?

there are many viewpoints I find a little nutty, or not based on fact, related to COVID vaccines. but there are real scientific concerns about those vaccines and the lack of proper testing of the long term effects and interactions with certain patient populations. the much bigger problem is the willful suppression of any of that information by the tech giants and media complex.

good decisions are decisions made with ALL the facts. and we have an environment where any discussion of facts not in alignment with the accepted doctrine will get you labeled a deplorable. or fired as a head coach.

I’m also curious which religion is fundamentally opposed to vaccinations?

      1. Inquisitive One, there are many, many religious people who believe it is wrong to introduce foreign substances into your body based on the Bible passages saying the Holy Spirit resides within a Born Again Christian and your body is His temple… this is especially true with those substances that not fully tested. There is a also a very large group believing the vaccine is the “mark of the beast” as recorded in Revelation. I am not in either of the groups. Although being called a deplorable, I am really an Objectivist. I am non political, I am pro facts. I also believe in freedom. I believe people have a right to their own opinions and respect them. I, by the way, am vaccinated.

      2. Carra,
It turns out Rolovich is Catholic. Since the Pope himself is advocating for Catholics to get vaccinated and the fact that millions of Catholics have done so, does that not make Rolo’s reasoning look a little hollow?

        Like

      3. No proof that “millions … have done so” any more than a statement that millions have not done so. And you naively and quickly gloss over the current state of the Papacy. Would suggest you also investigate the official position of the Eastern Orthodox Church.

Nevertheless, the original discussion – the coach’s attorney has already issued statements validating Carra’s observation.

        Like

      4. Do you really believe that there are not millions of Catholics who have been vaccinated? Sorry I can’t document it but since leadership has not condemned and actually advocated for vaccination and there are about 70 million Catholics in the U.S. alone, do the math.
I have no idea why you bring up the Eastern Orthodox Church here considering Rolo is Catholic.
I understand some religions are against vaccination, just not the one the subject of this conversation belongs to.
The attorney has initiated the process, whether it has merit remains to be seen.

      5. Thoughtful points – I disagree with you at base, but you have articulated a position. I bring up the statistical argument to deprive you (in general sense, not you specifically), as it is the normally unproven assertion that is made. You raised the Catholic Church as if it was monolithic and a proclamation by a (largely despised and discredited Pope) single person could speak for the entire faith. I raised the point of how many Catholics disagree with the current Pope (on vaccination and many other matters), and point to the Eastern Orthodox Church, considering how closely related the two are, and how there, the single individual authority has rejected vaccination. Agree it remains to be seen how much force the coach’s arguments will have…but the statement indicates that Carra’s original post was correct – it is centered on the 1st Amendment. Have a good day Inquisitive One (and please don’t forego your obvious good sense in joining the current throng of strangely faux liberal pitchfork and torch carrying zealots in becoming the Inquisition One).

      6. Thanks, it is refreshing to have dialogue without name calling, something rarely seen around here.
One can be left of center and not be a Marxist.
I do think that this is not actually a case of a law being made that explicitly targets or restricts a certain religion. The free speech aspect of the first amendment keeps us out of jail for our utterances but does not allow us to keep a job or position if higher ups see things differently. I think this case is more similar to that but understand there are differences.
I see the religious exemption as possibly being flimsy if a person can’t make a solid argument for it. If Rolovich has an actual anti-vax history (refusing them for his kids if he has any), he has a real argument but if he’s just pulled it out of nowhere, probably not.

BTW, my wife and I rescued a border collie/chow mix and I couldn’t imagine life without her. She has brought so much to our empty nest. Although I am a very non spiritual person, I can not see how she was not destined to be our dog.
Also, I am a huge admirer of Animals. I think it might be Floyd’s best work. It came at the height of their creativity but with songs that are either one minute or nine minutes or longer, it was never going to get much radio airplay and commercial success. After reacquainting myself with it and diving a little deeper into the message, I do believe it is not exactly a ringing endorsement of pure capitalism though.

  7. MG, you know truth hurts. I’m rather amazed you wish to wear a pointy white sheet hood and gaslight the ignorant, redneck Trump trash.

      1. MG, electorate support for a sitting President fluctuates like Pacific Ocean tides. Just ask Donald “Loser/SUCCer” Trump. I can’t say I agree with everything the Democrats are doing, but I know the current POTUS isn’t giving Putain a BJ whenever Putain wants his warhead polished.

#This just in MG, Donald J. Trump has just filed a Federal Lawsuit claiming exemption from municipal parking tickets/fines. The Lawsuit also the demands double or triple parking immunity for Trump’s motorcades and Melanie’s personal shopping vehicles.

Trump declares he “will fight for his rights” all the way to the Supreme Court.”

      2. If only we could pull the plug or cut the camera on this discussion like…hmm…something that seems awfully (I emphasize the awful) familiar…but then again, I guess we should just follow (“I was just following orders…”) to ensure that we do “not overly focus on moments in time.”

      4. Trump got his ass handed to him by Sleepy Joe Biden in a landslide defeat…how’s that for support?

Then that little commie loving bitch Trump threw multiple tantrums trying to overthrow the government and lost again and again and again.

Talk about a fucking loser…AHA HA HA HA HA!

That senile S.T.D. infected loser Trump is so out of it he can’t even dress himself properly, the idiot is still babbling incoherently to trumplican trash at his covid super spreader events…with his pants on backwards.

        LMFAO!

So you arfe saying that home schooling is like brainwashing their own. Well, then you do want the commie atheist socialist totaliran system, like the public school to brainwash them. I get it. You just want the kids to follow the Biden goose steppers.

  9. The cancel culture isn’t new. Marie Antoinette supposedly said, “Let them Eat Cake,” which was used to prove how out of touch the aristocracy was in France. She lost her job and her head. Do not confuse the quote with facts. First it was changed to cake from brioche and second there is no evidence she ever said it. The original idea came from an older story (of fiction) and was circulated by the “media” of the day. The same tactics are being used today to smear people considered dangerous to the cancel culture in power. Insurrection? did they miss the violent (called peaceful) George Floyd protests? They certainly must have seen unruly mobs tearing down municipal property such as statues and monuments to fallen US citizens and cultural heroes of a bygone era.
He who controls the media controls the mob. The supreme court upheld the right of the Hustler publisher use the word vagina in his magazine under his first amendment rights, and flag burning is considered free speech. Nobody is foolish enough to believe that Donald Trump sent the mob to the government building in order to overthrow the government, but that’s how the media wants to paint it. It galls me that the government is paying to prove their agenda with my tax money.

    1. But Minion auld stick, you didn’t mind Bush Jr. invading Iraq, running up a trillions of $$$$$ in US National Debt, searching for non-existent WMD, and Bush’s clear responsibility for the deaths of 200,000 US military and Iraqi civilian deaths.

  10. Back to USC football…

Dave Aranda. The games against Texas and Oklahoma will tell us everything. I watched the highlights of the Oklahoma State game and Baylor was down by 3 points until the last few minutes, despite an offense that was having a tough day.

I get more impressed by Aranda the more I learn. Not a dynamic personality, but I would rather win than have a coach filled with personality.

    1. Again, gamer, I agree.
Campbell at ISU has a huge buyout and is in the same league (metaphorically speaking) as Aranda. Take the native Los Angeleno Aranda before his star rises even further.

Still, I’ll take Campbell if I am wrong.

Fickell is not uprooting his devoutly Catholic wife and 6 kids for the hell-hole of So Cal…esp when Kelly is 60 years old and likely on the road to burning out. Fickell for Kelly is a natural transition and the length of contracts seems propitious.

Still, I’ll take Fickell if I am wrong.

James Franklin would auger in at LSU but be a media darling and a prolific winner at USC. If he wants to inherit the LSU $#itshow, go for it.

Still, I’ll take Franklin if I am wrong.

I see Bill O’Brien, JDR, Josh McDaniels, etc as NFL types.
If O’Brien can lead ‘Bama’s O to another title game, I see him choosing the NFL over CFB.
