Honey, I Shrunk The Team

USC is either being more honest with its heights/weights or two players shrunk: Tight end Ethan Rae went from 6-5 to 6-3. Cornerback Ceyair Wright went from 6-2 to 6-1. Perhaps this is a byproduct of sports information director Tim Tessalone retiring.

  1. Take it easy Scott. Tim wasn’t lying about player heights or weights. Back in Tim’s time measuring tapes and scales weren’t as accurate as they are now…..

    1. How true, Michael, it is amazing how much measuring devices have improved since COVID arrived in town, except how to measure who had it and who did not have it.

That, and there is also a tendency for footballers to exaggerate their size so as to intimidate the opposition.

      1. Exactly, John. Back in the day (meaning up till last week), the Athletic Department was forced to accept players at their word (due to the insufficiency of independent measuring devices). But now (meaning this week) everything has changed…and more accurate information is available.

    2. When the NBA started measuring themselves, rather than team reporting, Kevin Durant grew from 6’9″ to 6’11” and Dramond Green went from 6’7″ to 6’5″ and change

      1. John Wayne was anywhere from 6’3″ to 6’6″ —Ali was anywhere from 6’2″ to 6’4″…..

      2. We need to get Fauci on the Georgia Southern roster, the village idiot could boost him up to 5’4″, 135 lbs. “I just love Dr. Fauci, he brings so much enthusiasm and wisdom to the position of long snapper. He might even be as good as Toa.”

    1. Oooooh, Eddie, that is hitting below the belt, my man.

I am on record as not getting into politics, but I believe the Democrats (so-called liberals) and the Republicans (so-called conservatives) have taken turns turning this country upside down.

      1. Tom Campbell is not the perfect messenger for a new party—but he’s damn good—- I have to check this suggestion out.
        Thanks, 67.

      1. True, 67. In fact there’s only ONE thing Ed ever deliberately exaggerates the size of….

    1. Thanks again, 67!
Not what I’d call a real tall offense (wide receiver, QB)— but a ton of speed….and [I bet] “want to”….

  2. Carol Folt- insists she has a 36- 24- 36 figure……..yet she is only 4ft. tall. What we want to be, and what we are in reality is never close.

  3. Cal headline 1975

Chuck Muncie, under listed at 6′, 199lbs listed on the roster

When teams saw him for the first time he was 6’3″ & 240lbs. A load the other team did not expect.
Looked bigger than most ilb’s. And ran a 9.4

  4. I had a buddy at my gym that played with Muncie at Cal and with Haden at Amat. Had some great stories. Muncie left Cal completely illiterate.
