James Hong Gets Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star!

For nearly two years, I’ve been writing about the campaign to get actor James Hong a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Well, it happened today.

Hong, 93, received his star following a campaign that was started by actor Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-0), who helped raise the $55,000 necessary for the star.

Remember, Hong, who has appeared in more than 600 TV and film roles, studied civil engineering at USC. Hong worked for L.A. County as a road engineer for seven years before becoming a full-time actor.

Among the other Trojans who have a star are Jerry Buss, Ward Bond, Tom Selleck, John Wayne and of course, professor Frank Baxter.

    1. LOL! I posted one of them this morning.

Hong: Yeah, I just got a call. I yell ‘Cartwright! Cartwright!’, just like
that. Nobody came up, I hang up.
Costanza: Well, was it for Costanza or…
Hong: Yes, yes, that’s it. Nobody answered.
Costanza: Well was it a woman?
Hong: Yeah, yeah. I tell her you not here, she said curse word, I hang up.

      1. He was also in Eddie Murphy’s “The Golden Child” and Jason Statham’s “Safe”.

Way too many to list. Great supporting actor!

  1. When I was a teenager I wanted to be famous and be the president of the United States of America.

But now as the decades have passed by I am glad I was never famous. Being incognito has its advantages.

    1. Scorsese is a brilliant man who frequently makes brilliant films —that said, he routinely pays Joe Pesci to act out all the pent up rage he’s stored up from his days as a sickly little kid who got pushed around in the “neighborhood”.

    1. Thanks Enfield. You have to wonder why the Boner extended Andyain’twinning’s bozo BB program HC contract.

    1. The left is fine with intimidation & violence, as long as it’s people who agree with their view of things. It really is crazy.

But you’re right, they should be hauled off in the paddy wagon!

      1. At least Dementia Joe admitted it is a child last week.

“The idea that we’re going to make a judgment that is going to say that no one can make the judgment to choose to abort a child based on a decision by the Supreme Court, I think, goes way overboard,” Biden said.

    1. So true, George. As I have said before I am copying all of MG’s comments
and one day I will put them in a book and claim them as my own.

  3. To George– My wife was studying psychology at St John’s (she later became a psychologist which might explain a couple of things about me, whatever that is)
when Alcindor was considering going there, but sucla stole him and Wooden magically became a “wizard.”

With Alcindor on your team anybody could be a wizard– “Hey Lew, go out there and do your stuff, man!”

    1. LJ,

I was a kid and that no good bum Johnny Cheetin Wooden had an open house at Polly Povilion. He had his ugly ruin team there to whore them. So that bum puts up quarters on the backboard and had lew alcindor jump up and grab them. he kept them as well. Now, I am a kid but I am thinking, what a cheap bum by only putting up quarters and why is he paying alcindor, that is a penalty. True story.

    2. There’s a LOT more to the Wooden coaching story, John —after Wooden said “go out & do your stuff, Lew”, it was necessary for Lew to say, “ok.”

    1. Ultra serious “Chinatown” –ultra comedic “Big Time in Little China” …

  4. Along with a million other small roles, James Hong might be best known as the lead bad guy/villain David Lo-Pan in John Carpenter’s comedy-action-horror-fantasy classic, Big Trouble in Little China!
