USC Needs A New Sidekick

It’s funny that Mike Bohn felt he needed to do an interview immediately after Brandon Sosna’s departure to the Detroit Lions.

Bohn helped create the image that Sosna was vitally important and when Sosna left, it made people overreact.

How will USC survive?

Well, having money to throw at problems helps. And USC had that for the football hire. Otherwise, Lincoln Riley is not so interested.

Who will Bohn hire as his next sidekick?

Anyone left at Cincinnati?

There’s a funny story about a Cincinnati athletic dept. official going to a Bearcats football game and seeing a former employee on the sideline and asking, “where have you been? I’ve been looking for you all day, I need your help.”

The former employee responded, “I haven’t worked here for a year-and-a-half.”

That Cincinnati official now works at USC.

    1. I would like to think that Sosna’s original hire was not just luck but also involved being able to evaluate talent and hire it without the fear of being outshined by him/her (they/them and every other pronoun). I believe Bohn has proven he can do this and has also demonstrated that he is a master at cultivating relationships, so I look forward to seeing who he finds next time. He may make a mistake or two but I don’t think we will go back to the Helton hiring method of finding the person who makes me look smart in comparison only.

    2. Ed, If the California legislature has its’ way, the top state income tax rate of 13.3% (highest in the country) will rise to 16.3%

      If that happens, then at least a few of the top earning Californians (1/2 of 1% in California pay more than 40% of the state’s income tax) will establish residency in another state.
