USC Recruiting Almost Revamped. Almost.

USC has almost fully revamped its recruiting staff under Lincoln Riley. Almost.

There are still one-or-two holdovers. And also assistant coach Donte Williams.

Some at USC believe Williams might not return after this season because Riley only kept him around for some continuity. That means he won’t be necessary now that Riley is established. We’ll see.

By the way, the new recruiting staff of Riley staff includes one person who generally draws eye-rolls from members of the athletic dept. from the way this person acts on a daily basis. People in the athletic dept. will know who I am talking about. It just shows even someone like Riley hires characters when it comes to recruiting.

  • Four-star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa of Bradenton, Fla., will announce this commitment on July 4. USC is among the finalists.

      1. Yeah, as bad as Dementia Joe is (and as dumb as his voters are), “Kamala even better than him”?! That’s crazy talk. Even for Ed. 🙂

    1. Ed –I guess you saw the January 6th Committee’s Super-Dooper-Pooper Witness today: “..and then Prez Trump pulled out a rocket launcher and yelled ‘say hello to my little friend!’ to his limo driver.” And, to make matters worse, he then said the “F” word!
Thank God this is all being revealed! It makes me feel SO much better about having joe biden in charge of our economy and foreign policy—he never threatens people with bazookas or rocket launchers or says bad words.

      1. You forgot to use quotation marks around “witness”. She recounted events that supposedly transpired in the limo, when SHE WASN’T IN THE LIMO!

All of her testimony was hearsay and the left is ejaculating over it! LMAO

      2. I see nothing wrong with hearsay evidence from an un-cross examined witness! Allowing this kind of unchallenged, prompted, tardy testimony into the record sheds light on a national nightmare….
[I’m trying to make you laugh, So Cal —just like Ed was trying to do, btw]……

  1. Elaine Benes will not be happy about this.

  2. I think Donte Williams will be back. He’s a great recruiter and although not a great HC at this point, I think that he’s a good position coach. I think that he will be back. We’ll see.

    1. Parcel, I think the proof is in the pudding this season for Donte. If we don’t have huge improvement in pass defense I predict he will either be gone or reclassified into a recruiting role only. I doubt he would take that position though. Riley knows how badly we need some defense.

      1. Actually —sadly –his unit was the weak point in Oregon’s defense. His claim to fame was recruiting 4 and 5 star players —some of whom turned out to be busts.
He’s a nice guy —he’s just not the right guy.

  3. Does anyone actually believe that Lincoln Riley is going to out recruit Mario Cristobal for Francis Mauigoa … Really? 😂. Riley can’t even get the best offensive linemen in his own state😂

  4. No top offensive linemen will commit to USC until Lincoln Riley proves he’s going to play physical football. But he keeps hiring Mike
Leach assistants, not a good sign.

      1. People here don’t understand Riley’s teams run more than ‘Bama and Clemson. And they run very effectively, with rushing yards per carrying averaging 5-6 yards. Really balanced offensive attack.

    1. Good news —The evidence is clear: Joe was a more or less silent partner in Hunter’s corrupt, anti-American business dealings.
Bad news —It doesn’t matter. NOTHING will ever be done about it.

  5. A Biden gaffe that is old, but really says all one needs to know. He wrote the following to plead not being kicked out of Syracuse Law School after he was caught copying 5 complete pages from a law review article without attribution:

“If I had intended to cheat, would I have been so stupid?”

  7. USC is going to be the biggest show in College Football. Everyone is going to be watching. If you’re a top recruit, it’s THE place. What are the kids going to say when the NFL scouts ask them why they didn’t want to play at USC???
Are they going to say something like “I prefer the backwater podunk thing rather than the bright lights of the big time” ????

    1. Very true. NIL has made USC the biggest show in College Football (except for o-line recruits —but that will change, too, after we win 10 games this season).

  9. Just finished reading about Wiley’s lone lineman recruit, Lovelace, and what a card he is. When Wiley offered him he told Riles that no one makes up his mind while in lala land, that instead he was taking Dorothy back to Kansas to sleep on it.

No wonder it is so hard to get offensive linemen to transfer. No matter how bad their team is doing, linemen stick together like brothers, and are very often the smartest and funniest guys on a football team.

      1. Thank you So Cal and others– Just had a lot of catching up to do at work, and besides, these are the dog days of SC sports, but that is about to change come early August!

      2. Hey SoCal,
Quick nudge / encouragement. I appreciate your posts and point of view, but it might be for the best to get the politics off here. Your choice for sure, no need to listen to me. I come here becuase it’s fun and to get away from the world, I have certainly thrown my two cents in, but won’t any longer regarding political discussions.

Ive got all kinds of two cent thoughts on USC sports that I’m sure will stir the ire of many in here.

Just a thought. I can ignore the trolls, apart from Scott. I come expecting him to poke his finger in my face.

      3. Thanks for your two cents and you’re right…no need to listen to you.

But you were not rude or childish with the manner in which you spoke your mind and for that I will respond in kind. Have a great 4th!

      1. Going to be interesting to see how the dynamics of the Have’s & Have Not’s plays out (NIL). As the warden pointed out in Law Abiding Citizen, when Clive got his Duxiana bed, it doesn’t always go well.
