USC Sunday Buzz: Coach Prefers Pac-12 To Big 12

I spoke to a Pac-12 coach this morning about the options facing the conference, but purely from a football standpoint.

“I think the Big 12 was better than the Pac-12 even with USC and UCLA,” the coach said. “So I wouldn’t want to go there if the conferences merged.”

“Those Big 12 offenses can wear teams out. I’d rather play in a Pac-10 or a Pac-12 with two new teams. Even a partnership with the ACC would be better.

“I don’t think people realize what it would be like playing in the Big 12. Ask (USC defensive coordinator) Alex Grinch. He’s happier to be in the Pac-12. At least until 2024.”

    1. I agree, I think SC has a good chance to go undefeated this yr ,and perhaps next…after that 8-4 will be good years and 10-2 will be amazing

You know what WOULD be totally absurd?
        Don’t make me say it…

  1. I know I call him Bon-Bon, but Mike Bohn deserves some credit for all this– He is a visionary who knew the Pac-12 was not in SC’s best future, brought in Wiley, and had a hand in establishing a NIL program for his footballers.

Yes, he kept Ton-o-Hel too long, but if he hadn’t SC would not have gotten Wiley. Funny how things can seem so terrible as they unfold, but then in hindsight sometimes things work out for the best.

    1. I love you, John…..but I wasn’t able to read any words appearing on the other side of the word “visionary”….

    1. Yeah, I saw that in the paper this morning. That was quite a layout, 3-pages worth. It was about ‘Celeb,’ but not bad pub for SC either.

  2. I just realized Scott will be in heaven comes 2024. He’ll have 16 new anonymous sources, many who know nothing of his journalistic proclivity (whatever that means)
I look forward to hearing from “a big 10 coach told me…”

    1. I have a funny feeling Scottie got this idea of “a coach told me” from Uncle Remus singing “Oh Mr. Bluebird on my shoulder…” as in ‘a birdie told me.’

  3. It would have been nice to stay in the Pac-12 but I guess with the money situation, that was kind of impossible. For that, we need to thank the great Larry Scott(as Bill Walton used to call him) who destroy the pac-12.

  4. Get the ACC to terminate the rights contracts and watch what happens. Teams will be moving around. We could even see a whole new conference come about. Imagine USC in a conference with Miami, FL St, NC, ucla, Clemson, Stanford, Cal, Oregon, OK St, Iowa St, Baylor, TCU, AZ, AZ St, Duke, and NC St. Strong in football and basketball.

      1. The January 6th committee may never wrap up. I’m not sure the dems can let that happen. Without the January 6th committee(and the future January 6th investigations), the american people might wake up and see how these globalists(New World Order) dems are deliberately trying to destroy the country. January 6th is a great distraction when you are dealing with an american public that is fast asleep.

  5. USC can be as good as anyone next year. In response to OWNS it will be more surprising if UCLA pays their rent on time for a change at the Rose Bowl without help from the State of California, and TV money. Don’t be surprise also if UCLA decides to move back to the Coliseum in two years, and pays rent again, but this time USC is the landlord. USC owns this town financially, and in football.

Your statement sounds like a joke but I’m not so sure it is a joke. Even after D.T. dies(1948), the dems will still feel that they have to destroy his image and legacy.

      1. Lawrence Krause is one of those intellectual elites whose much learning has turned him into an idiot. He wrote a book about how the universe popped into existence from nothing. Even Julie Andrews(in the “Sound of Music”) knew better than that. What did she say…..”nothing comes from nothing, nothing ever could”.

  6. The attitude of this Pac-12 coach is EXACTLY why the Pac-12 sucks. The coaches dont want to compete at a high level. Good riddance.
