On July 20, 1969, 53 years ago today, Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin touched down in the Sea of Tranquility, becoming the first humans ever to land on the Moon.
A year later, Armstrong gave an oral thesis defense for his master’s in aeronautical engineering at USC. He passed.
There is a statue of Armstrong at USC.

Good excuse to post about those pictures coming back from the Webb telescope. They are amazing!!
I’m glad the half dozen micrometeoriods that have it since December have caused minimal damage. Let’s hope it doesn’t run into anything more substantial.

We are observing the beginning of the universe some 13 billion years ago. Of course what we are seeing happened millions of years ago (that speed of light is so darn slow)
It is mind-blowing what these genius scientists can cook up– the Webb telescope!

Gabby: I know that Biden ran on the idea that Trump failed to deal with Covid and that he would eradicate the virus. How did that work out? Less than 300,000 deaths when Biden took office and we are now at over a million, 2.5 times worse than Trump. What were Biden’s accomplishments in dealing with Covid? I can’t think of any. I remember he tried to say the vaccine was developed and distributed under his watch, a lie. Trump policies streamlined the development of the vaccine in record time. Biden then mandated the vaccine as a condition of government employment. Something he earlier stated that he would never do. He encouraged the states to extend lockdowns thereby crushing the economy. A John Hopkins study shows that lockdowns did virtually nothing to limit the virus. He continues to push masks and mandatory vaccines even though masks are largely ineffective and the virus has mutated rendering the vaccine largely ineffective against infection.
And are you seriously making jokes about Trump being physically unfit for the job and needing Depends. Biden can’t walk onto Air Force One or read off a teleprompter.

Plow, the fools who thought Dementia Joe would do better with the virus have very short memories. Barack & Joe didn’t keep H1N1 from spreading at all and merely lucked out that it was nowhere near as fatal as COVID. I laughed in Oct/Nov 2020 at the simpletons who used that as their excuse for voting in a corrupt, weak old man with dementia.

WOW….MORE FUCKING LIES. Every one of your talking points can be debunked.
The hopkin paper was political and not supported by MANY!!! (I posted a link in a previous reply, please read)
Biden told the anti-vaxxers to get the shot!!!! The vast majority (80%) who died after Biden took office refused the shot ….CAN’T BLAME HIM FOR THEIR STUPIDITY.
Trump had nothing to do with the development of covid vaccines. Pfizer, in fact, gave trump their middle finger when he asked that they name the vaccine after him,
The economy improved at the fastest rate in history after Biden took office. Trump was the only prez in history to leave the office with fewer jobs….lost 11 million
Biden never encouraged lockdowns, just the opposite.
What current mask mandates????

PS….White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked about the paper the Feb. 4 press briefing. She deferred to the administration’s experts to address the specifics of the paper, but she added that “the president has been clear that we are not pushing lockdowns, we have not been pro-lockdown, that has not been his agenda. Most of the lockdowns actually happened under the previous president. What our objective has been is to convey we have the t**ls we need to keep our country open.

Gabby: The article you cite does not debunk anything. Here are the opening words:
“Three economists concluded in a Johns Hopkins working paper that lockdowns in response to the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic did not have a significant effect on mortality rates, but the paper’s findings have been criticized.” There is a difference between “criticized” and “debunked.”
Funny how Florida which had minimal lockdowns did as well with Covid as many other states. Their economy is now thriving and people are moving there in droves. Even AOC visited Miami. Similarly, South Dakota had minimal lockdowns and did as well as highly restricted North Dakota. Sweden and Iceland had minimal lockdowns and actually did better than most other European states. But keep pushing the lockdown/mask-up nonsense. Do you want to close the schools again? Cancel little league or going to the beach? Wear a mask outside while walking your dog? Has any democratic politician even acknowledged these policies were a mistake?

FUCK DUDE, HOW CONVENIENT YOU MISSED THIS PART OF THE ARTICLE
Both Bhatt and Ferguson have authored previous studies on the impact of lockdowns and NPIs on COVID-19 transmission and mortality. One used a model simulation and predicted a lockdown would significantly reduce mortality. The other evaluated interventions in 11 European countries and found NPI had “a large effect on reducing transmission” with an estimated 4% or less of the population in the countries infected with the virus.

Love McCollough’s article in the Times today:
“The presidents of every California Pac-12 school lobbied hard against NIL because they feared — correctly — that college athletes receiving money of any kind, even from third parties and not the schools themselves, would inevitably lead to full-on professionalization, players being classified as employees and directly sharing in the revenues they’ve helped to produce.
So of course they were calling Newsom panicking back then. They also knew the jig was about to be up.
Newsom did the right thing in signing the NIL bill. History will applaud him for it. But for him to act now as if it’s a shock that UCLA athletics would knife the UC system and its Pac-12 brethren in the back to gain potentially $70-plus million in yearly revenues and wipe out more than $100 million in debts is disingenuous and intellectually insulting to taxpayers and voters.”
Unlike Dumbass I credit the authors. I don’t cut & paste and try to pass it off as my own thoughts on a subject. LMAO

And yet he put executions on a moratorium and is now dismantling our death penalty equipment.
