Some coaches, like Chip Kelly, like to practice in the morning. Others like Pete Carroll at USC practiced in the afternoon.
Lincoln Riley does both.
Here is what he plans for the season:
Tuesdays: 8:10 a.m.
Wednesdays: 4 p.m.
Thursdays: 8:50 a.m.
What is unusual about this is the challenge it probably posed for the academic counselors. Players can’t have morning classes on Tuesday/Thursday or afternoon classes on Wednesdays.
When Lane Kiffin coached at USC, morning practices were abandoned because of the poorer academic performance by the football players and also because it limited options for class schedules.
- USC did something unusual Sunday night. It tweeted out a statement on Bru McCoy.
It wasn’t so much what was said but the fact USC felt the need to say anything on social media.
This is what happens when you rile up an SEC fan base. Tennessee fans have been all over Mike Bohn, Carol Folt and even Lincoln Riley about McCoy’s eligibility.
