USC Hitting Transfer Portal Hard

Does USC need linebackers? Definitely.

It offered Georgia State outside linebacker Jamil Muhammad, who had 44 tackles, eight quarterback hurries, five tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks this season. USC also offered Coastal Carolina outside linebacker Josaiah Stewart.

I wonder what current USC linebackers Raesjon Davis, Chris Thompson and Carson Tabaracci think all this means for them next season?

      1. Tom Brady embodies that spirit, Tim…. [I’m a late believer in that guy —didn’t realize for a long time what a strong will to win dives him]…..

  1. The USC pitch should be pretty strong. Evidence of playing time for transfers. Opportunity due to holes in the roster. Strong potential to play in CFP next year. Great degree and network as fall-back. High visibility team. Good culture of current players. The only question is whether Grinch is a good DC.

The defensive backs have Bullock returning, Bryson Shaw getting better with every game, Zion Branch and Domani Jackson coming in. With another CB and safety, they could have the starters locked in, with decent backups. But the d-line and linebackers might nearly all be new, except for Gentry.

There have to be more players hitting the portal. Gary Bryant wasnt playing because he wanted to save a year or eligibility, why is he not in the portal?

  2. Memo to the rest of the team get your Shyt together because your starting spot is not guaranteed for next year. Except for Caleb Williams. That’s it!

  3. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. None of you know the names of the coaches at Utah outside of the head coach but you think they have better coaches than what USC has. The talent upgrade will expose USC and Riley or show you how good the coaching truly is. Bottom line, the name USC only goes so far and the rest depends on how committed everyone in the program is to winning everything.

    1. I am surprised that USC has not had more success with recruits and transfers that were not already committed to Riley at OK. Really, there have been NO 5 star and few high 4 star commitments after Riley’s OK recruits switched. With all of the advantages of USC, they should be pulling in recruits easily.

I think recruits on the line think that USC is soft and will not make them into a top NFL talent.

Without Caleb, this team would be a mess and there is still a long ways to go. I question whether Riley can win with a pocket QB like Malachi.

    2. Of course I’m ashamed when USC gets out coached and exposed again on a big stage in the PAC 12 championship game. Especially being there and witnessing it, live in Vegas. CW should of been takin out of the game as soon as he got hurt, next man up. That’s freaking coaching. Give your team the best chance to win. Not run a soft zone defense the entire game. So 40% of CW is better than 100% of Miller Moss? Am I missing something here?

  4. it looks like UCLA and UTAH are buying defenders left and right. Especially linebackers. Still lack elite linemen though, SC needs to secure the best defenders at no holds barred, cost be damned.

  5. This season has got to be a bell ringer for those unused but talented players wishing to play for Lincoln Riley. I’m betting the portal and recruiting looks great this cycle.

    1. Wouldn’t surprise me if Miller Moss entered the portal soon after riding the pine most of the season. Especially, the coach not having any faith in him to lead the team to victory in the PAC 12 championship game. When Caleb Williams got hurt.

  7. Sorry, but still trying to shake off that second Utah loss that was so costly and probably was lost on one play, ironically the great run by ‘Celeb’ when he pulled up lame in the first half and killed he Trojans’ momentum, one darn play, shades of 2006 when Reggie Bush infamously lateraled to shut-down SC’s chance to put Texas away

      1. Up until the moment he pulled up lame, Caleb looked invulnerable. He’d get slammed and bounce back up with a smile. He now has to realize that players last longer when they play smart. Burt Reynolds’ stuntman on ‘Sharkey’s Machine’ said, “the injuries occur when that little voice inside you tells you you’re pushing thing too far…and you say let’s just push a little further.”

  8. Notice how a record number of college footballers have declared personal
‘free-agency’ looking for greener pastures where the NFL might take a better look at them, and of course hungry football factories i.e. colleges are looking them over much like they did in the 1800s Deep South slave trading days

2022 will go down in football history as the year ‘Abraham Wiley’ turned the sinking Trojan Titanic-like boat into a sleek work-cruiser ship. Now everybody wants in on the action

    1. USC needs to get ahead of the curve on this, John. What does that mean? Quite simply: each recruit gets 1% of the aid earmarked for Ukraine [roughly a billion dollars per recruit] and, of course, a Ukrainian wife.
At first blush this sounds immoral….but we’re at war [with the SEC]…

“…each recruit gets 1% of the aid earmarked for Ukraine…”

It is funny because to ‘steal from Ukraine’ is as low as you can go
Or is it– what do you say recruits, are you all in

  10. All jokes aside, UCLA are buying-uh, recruiting Caleb catchers like the Cal LB and Dline end from Penn. Utah is doing the same. I get SC approach which is team first guys and they get to be selective but six veterans from the portal should be enough. The key is to get bigger and better depth.

Side note: I don’t mind when you folks go off on President Biden and his Admin. Letting Bout go only makes sense of he ends up dead real soon. If she-the I’m ashamed of my country buffoon suffers then hopefully she’s more appreciative of her country now.

    1. I’m just as concerned about the Sinaloa cartel hitman, Edgar Villareal, who was released on Nov 27 even though he wasn’t supposed to be up for release until 2056! Even Obrador wants to know where the hell he is and no one can tell him!

The cartels, no doubt, made a generous donation to the Biden Family, same way they’re doing to keep the borders open. This administration is as corrupt as they come.

  11. Anyone know how BLVD is getting into play on these guys in the portal. In a lot of cases these kids are looking for some NIL and is USC even in the game? Sure seems the schools with the money flowing are wrapping up some pretty good players.

  12. THE CURRENT USC LINEBACKERS SHOULD BE EXTREMELY WORRIED.. BECAUSE THE LINEBACKERS STUNK THIS YEAR AS DID THE ENTIRE DEFENSE AND DEFENSIVE COACHES.
COMPETITION IS THE KEY. I HAD TO WIN MY LINEBACKING SPOT EVERY WEEK IT SEEMED. COACH MCKAY AND COACH GOUX NEVER LET YOU GET COMPLACENT OF YOUR POSITION. YOUR ALWAYS HAD TO BE AT YOUR BEST WITH NO MISSTAKES.
