Marvin Powell, one of the greatest linemen in USC history, passed away in October. He was 67.
Powell was an All-American in 1975 and 1976 and is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. For some reason, he is not in the USC Hall of Fame.
Powell was a five-time Pro Bowl selection, three-time All-Pro and Jets Team MVP in 1979.
“Marvin was one of the best linemen I’ve ever seen,” said former Jets wide receiver Wesley Walker upon hearing of Powell’s passing. “He was just a physical specimen. He was just good. I just loved him.”
Powell was the No. 4 pick in the first round of the 1977 NFL Draft.
He is the only tackle to be selected MVP in the Jets’ first 62 seasons.

Back in the 70″s, SC was a machine. You could have bet your entire salary and house mortgage and you would win. The reason is because of the dominance of the oline. SC has not seen that type of play ever since the 70’s. I don[t think we will ever see that type of dominance ever again. Pete Adams, Booker Brown, Marivn Powell, the other oline that passed away, John Vella, Mosebar, Graf, Munoz, andd the list goes on. Just awesome talent. May he RIP.

greeting fans , well the fall guy leaves along with who else other coaches and players ? well 2 lane made 84 tackles usc made 48 tackles lets see 84 -48 equals aaahhhh 36 less tackles in the contest ! in other words for riley its not points scored but tackles made to figure the outcome of the football game !!!!???? regards , E
