USC Lands Defensive End From Purdue

Jack Sullivan, a defensive end from Purdue, has committed to USC.

Sullivan had 38 tackles last season with seven tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 2022. He had 22 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 2021.

He is the second defensive lineman to transfer joining defensive tackle Kyon Barrs from Arizona.

  1. Nice pick up.

McVey has coached his last game.

Remember, I had Caleb to USC when Wisconsin and others were courting him.

No idea who new Ram coach will be but hope CLR is not going to interview.

Stan can give him at least $5 million more annually than he is making now.

    1. I don’t think there is any way on earth that Lincoln would leave Caleb in the lurch [unless Garrett Riley was gonna take over at USC —and, believe me, if that happened, Grinch would be deader than a doornail cuz Garrett would bring Joe Gillespie from TCU as D.C. …and probably try to get Mark Tommerdahl as STC]….

      1. What if McVey and LR swapped jobs. I would bet after a year or two their employers would want to swap back. Riley at this stage is NOT nfl ready.

    2. Is that all Lincoln Riley does, pickup average players from the portal, and watch USC fanboys jump up and down with joy, as if the player is a 5 star high school recruit? 😂😂. This is rinse and repeat of last year, and we all witnessed the results of that defense 😂😂

  2. Heard that there is talk that Domani Jackson is thinking of transferring. There was no excuse for why he didnt play this year. Same situation as Raesjon Davis. There is something very rotten in Alex Grinch’s defense.

  3. Pete Carroll did one of his best coaching jobs at Seattle to get to 9-8. Injury plagued, minus Russell Wilson and picked to only win 4 games….. they now wait on the results of the packers/ lions game to see if they’re in the playoffs.

    1. Pete has done a remarkable job this year. He is 71 years old. I hope we all have that level of energy when we reach his age.

I had the privilege of meeting the USC coaches over a 30 year span (1980 to 2010). Pete was very personable and always took the time to talk with me and ask how family was doing. Second favorite was Robo who was very nice. Teddy and Larry not as personable. Finally, best thing about Kiffin was Layla. One beautiful woman. How the heck do you cheat or divorce that?

      2. How fitting…the comeback is to bring up UCLA’s softball team!! This is better than I thought. It so perfectly manifests UCLA’s softball mentality. Keep on giving JOwns, you make for a great pinata.

    1. what the hell was ucla doing down to usc by 12 in the 4th in the first place. With that line up they should win by 40. It’s like saying the Lakers came back to beat a 12 year old jewish community center team by a point at the buzzer. What a bunch of 12 year old chokers.

  5. Grinch is demented. You can’t take all your defensive ends and bulk them up to be defensive tackles. If your ideas don’t work then you have to change your approach. It really isn’t cute and it’s gonna get old real fast if the defense can’t improve.

  6. Looking at the transfer portal and the players we’re picking up, it looks like Riley is pulling a Bohn move. Bohn got a batch of new coordinator help to give clueless Clay Helton a better chance. But it really didn’t fix anything. I am afraid they plan to get more talent to help Grinch, but since Grinch is the Oklahoma equivalent of Clay Helton-all explanation, no clue how to fix it, we’re doomed.

The above information is not based on one game, three losses or a season of Grinch (sounds like Christmas) But on all available information from disgruntled Oklahomans. What more do you need?

    2. Helton’s problem was no one wanted to be on his staff… on either side of the ball.
Lincoln’s problem is a little different.
Anybody & everybody wants to join Lincoln’s offensive staff…..but no one in their right mind wants to touch the defense….

  7. I have a person who knows football direct me to am article that did an analysis of the defensive line play. They comped USC to Georgia. Bottom line? Georgia linemen did a higher rate of tackling and a better job getting off the field and overcoming injuries. If the line can do those two things better next year then keep Grinch. He has chosen this route so he ha to make this work along with his assistants. Brian Odom just might be the replacement for Grinch if tha replacement replacement occurs.

    1. Grinch said 2 things before the Cotton Bowl that are gonna be kinda difficult to forget— (1) all his guys were healthy and had no excuses, (2) he challenged his players to play hard for 60 minutes and he felt certain they would.
Whether it’s deserved or not, Grinch’s players don’t respect him…and don’t play hard for him
      It is what it is.

    1. George,
If you want to see how much Orson Welles loved Rita Hayworth check out his illustrated book, Les Bravades, dedicated to their daughter, Rebecca. Ostensibly it’s meant exclusively for Rebecca [since, by this time, Rita is Orson’s ex-wife] but it is filled with references to how much Welles misses his family when he’s seeing beautiful sights in Spain or France.

  10. Georgia benefitted from a migration of families to Atlanta and the surrounding suburbs during the 90’s. There is a greater migration of athletic talent going to cities in Arizona and Nevada since 2012. IF RILEY DOESN’T MAKE THE PLAYOFFS IN TWO YEARS THEN HE WILL BE GONE. HES HAS NO EXCUSE SINCE THE BEST HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES AND TEAMS WILL BE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, NEVADA AND ARIZONA FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS!
