USC Morning Buzz: BLVD Awfully Quiet As Keyshawn Johnson Starts Collective

What is going on with BLVD, USC’s in-house NIL collective?

I’d heard in November it was “rebranding.” It hasn’t posted on Instagram in eight weeks and hasn’t sold new gear since the USC-UCLA game.

Now, a group led by Keyshawn Johnson has started The TOMMY Group, a new NIL collective that will support USC athletes.

“We’re excited to be at the forefront of this movement,” Johnson said in a statement. “We have an incredible opportunity at hand to tap into each of our professional expertises and personal networks to open up the world of personal branding, commercial deals and beyond to these kids in a major way. We’re not only setting the standard for NIL deals, we’re helping to strategically shape their futures.”

The TOMMY Group says it is already working with 80 college athletes, including Caleb Williams.

“I look forward to seeing all the different ways they can provide support for not only my team but other athletes in this new NIL era of college sports,” Williams said.

Let’s see what moves BLVD makes next? It’s been awfully quiet.

    1. 67 —I like your viewpoint. I only hope President Folt shares it….

      2. Butt hurt??? You’re the one crying and whining about getting slapped around… Dumbass…. I called out your stupidity over a lame comment about a woman. Grow a pair

      3. Inner Gabby: Now I hope the lads don’t get the wrong idea about outer Gabby always dragging things down into the mud and mire. I just hope they don’t blame me, Inner Gabby, for outer Gabby’s ingrained perversity. I have tried my best to reform him, but then there he goes again. But one day I am confident outer will mend his ways and became a useful member of society. One that his mom will be proud of.

      6. Why would anyone pay attention to Keyshuck? He’s the epitome of loud mouth and no brain.

Just what SUCC needs, another screwball, bozo independent FB fat cat, cash group that will eventually cap Clown U in da’ foots. I doubt the Big 10 will put up with Keyshuck’s penny-ante BS.

Remember when Keyshuck appointed himself a FB coach @ MVHS, in Orange County…….LOL

      7. Inner Gabby: “It’s pathetic how you feel sorry for the blog dunce” –yes, I do feel sorry for you, outer Gabby, but no need for self abuse. Or is this rather a cry for help….a recognition of your moral and intellectual bankruptcy? If so, that is a good starting point, Outer. Let the healing process begin.

      8. Now that will never happen. Keyshawn will have her escorted out of the state. He’s royalty at USC. She needs his blessings. One of the few ex-athletes that are active in school dynamics, not just football. Put it like this, there’s no Jimmy Iovine and Dr Dre giving So Cal anything without Keyshawn.

  1. Open Letter to So Cal:
Okay! I saw “Hell or High Water” —-now tell me: Who kills who after the movie ends? Does Chris Pine kill Jeff Bridges? Or does Jeff Bridges kill Chris Pine?

    1. Neither. They leave it where it stands, being old enough & wise enough to know that enough blood was spilled.

Though each will play it out in their own heads over & over again, feeling they would be in the right to defend themselves should the other ever come looking.

      1. I like that answer, So Cal. btw, In a joint interview with Chris Pine, Jeff Bridges said it was possible they would bring “peace to each other” by sitting down together and reaching an accord….

It’s one damn fine movie. If you haven’t seen it, try “Rancho Deluxe.” It’s an early Bridges’/Sam Waterson film about cattle rustling. Slim Pickens plays a former cattle rustler hired to bust B & W.

“Rancho Deluxe” earns Own’s “Good shit” guarantee.

      1. Gil Birmingham is half Mexican, half Comanche in the movie just as he is in real life. His parents didn’t tell him until he was fourteen. Prior to the revelation, Birmingham believed himself to be of Spanish and Mexican descent, due to his father’s fear of prejudice against Indigenous people.

More importantly (not really) he’s a Trojan! Earned a Bachelor of Science degree from (what is now) the USC Price School of Public Policy.

      2. Birmingham is the unsung hero of the film…..
Can’t imagine anybody doing a better job with that role….

  2. After “Student Body Right” dissolved, BLVD had the task of luring athletes to USC unto themselves – they’re not getting it done, obviously. A more “Alumni” centered control is interesting and much harder for Folt to maintain her image (whatever that is.) The program is foundational at SC. Carol is just way too late to the party on that one.

    1. I thought I described it well above.

But your crybaby pal took exception to it. He’s still butt hurt about me laughing a him for voting dementia. At the end of the day, that’s his real problem. But he’s not man enough to admit it.

  3. What do you expect BLVD to say? I wonder if there will be others that focus on different areas. My guess is that Riley told Bohn that BLVD simply would not be acceptable and Bohn had to release the kraken.
