Five-star QB Dylan Raiola has reportedly canceled a visit to Georgia.
If his interest in Georgia has waned, it leaves Nebraska and USC as Raiola’s top two choices. As usual, the intriguing aspect is whether Raiola would actually come to USC to challenge another five-star (Malachi Nelson) to be the successor to Caleb Williams.
Also: The winner of this QB derby would make their first start vs. LSU . . . and then play in the Big Ten.
- Former USC wide receiver Keary Colbert has been hired as wide receivers coach by the Denver Broncos.
Denver coach Sean Payton has hired several former USC players over the years: defensive Ryan Nielsen, who recently defensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons; Kris Richard, who was the New Orleans Saints’ co-defensive coordinator last season and now Colbert, a former USC assistant who was at Florida last season.
- Former USC commit Aaron Butler of Calabasas High School has a final five of Alabama; Colorado; Georgia; Oregon and Washington.
So what are Miller Moss’ chances in the 5 star quarterback derby?

Judging from the amount of playing time Miller got when Lincoln Riley left a lame Caleb on the field against Utah….. I’d say the answer to “What are Moss’ chances?” would be “Not too good”….

Lol, agree MG. If he can’t get in a game when the starter is completely hobbled & getting clobbered…

I am not a great prognosticater when it comes to quarterback derbies. I had Jack Sears in the last one. Unfortunately, Graham Harrell did not value athleticism and the ability to scramble when evaluating quarterbacks. That did not work out well for the injury ridden winners of the quarterback derby.

Kinda true…. but every subsequent coach wound up benching [or passing on] Sears…

Our eagle eyed blogger missed this, I know, shocking !
LenDale White almost wasn’t there to tell the story.
The former NFL running back revealed on the “I Am Athlete” podcast this week that he suffered a major heart attack in 2019 at the age of 34, and it almost ended his life.
“My (left anterior descending artery) was clogged, and I had to have two stints shot into my heart so my blood can flow again,” he said. “It’s called a ‘widow-maker’ because you’re really not supposed to make it back from that.”
“When you’re 34 and you have a heart attack, that changes your life forever. I definitely workout now.”
A star at USC, White was a second-round pick by the Titans in the 2006 NFL Draft. He racked up 24 touchdowns over four seasons with Tennessee, but found himself out of the league by 2011. Earlier this month, he admitted to the Titans team website that he battled addiction and depression, and considered suicide as his career floundered.
White shared his tale with some prodding from one of the podcasts hosts, his former Titans teammate Adam “Pacman” Jones. The former cornerback was one of the few people White had shared the news with, as well as ex-NFL star Chris Johnson.
The 38-year-old added that he hasn’t told people about the scare because he doesn’t want their sympathy, though he has discovered an appreciation for working out.
“I’ve been so scared,” he said. “When you’re 34 and you have a heart attack, that should change your life forever. The physical has to change. I definitely workout every day now — and I hate working out.
“I gave dogs 1,000 yards and was smoking kush every day and never worked out, squatted, nothing. To go in there and be like, ‘I got to squat now for fun,’ it ain’t — you know. But s-t, when you want to save your life, yeah, I’m a squat all day.”

NFL should keep LenDale’s anecdote as to why they don’t guarantee contracts.
I remember his stock dropping prior to draft about his drug use.
Could’ve been a great NFL back if he put the work in and glad he’s healthy now. Such a stud at SC.

Sometimes I think recruiting at SC is something akin to an old lady shopping in the Hummel section of the thrift store. She has every figurine, but cannot resist searching for one more even though she has no place to put it.
I guess it’s okay because they say USC used to stockpile players believing if they were benchwarmers here they wouldn’t be playing against us there.

Most recent “bracketology” has USC among the 4 teams with a play-in game.
However, with Vince Iwuchukwu getting solid minutes now, this is a slightly different team “going down the stretch.” I’m also thinking that winning 3/4 to close out the regular season and winning two in the conference tournament gets USC into the round of 64.

Looking into the Future: It’ll be odd in the extreme when we schedule and beat a Pac 12 team that goes on to win the Pac 12 Conference Championship….and we fall short of winning the Big Ten…..and the Pac 12 team goes to the playoffs and we don’t…..

You sound totally lost AGAIN, and make absolutely zero sense. Let me get this right, you claim to be the adult here, yet given your logic, two wrongs make it “right” by “giving it back”. You take the bait every time and respond back with childish insults. Would you call that the behavior of a reasonable adult?
Taking your words, “I could do without it” and “The blog is much better when he’s not throwing that stuff around. With that said, why do you feel it’s necessary to voice your political rhetoric on a daily basis when no one wants or needs to hear it.
This blog is dedicated to all things related to USC, not your political opinions. If your grievances must be voiced, take them to a venue that might share your common ideology. You have posted well over 250 consecutive posts without anything related to or mentioning USC.
Instead, try to realize your comments are consistent with a “troll” and no one responds to them. Why continue to post comments that have no relevance to the blog. If you truly are an adult try contributing in a constructive manner. Or, continue to express your narcissism and swim in an ocean of hypocrisy.

I’m right there with you in wondering why local players shun USC, it just doesnt make sense.
But I am of the opinion that USC will be pretty stellar this year and will start to get more respect from recruits. The new collective will help. Another year of winning will help.
Raiola was blown away by his visit to USC and there is a good chance he wants to be the QB for Riley’s offense and doesnt care if Nelson is already there.
I think Coach Hansen will start to get better o-line recruits and Nua will get better d-line recruits. USC will continue to get many of the best receivers and QBs. The question is whether we will get our share of linebackers and cornerbacks and safeties. Donte was the best recruiter under Helton, is he now one of the worst recruiters under Riley? The results for Donte have not looked good recently.

You said “But I am of the opinion that USC will be pretty stellar this year and will start to get more respect from recruits”. I think that SC is getting respect right now. But I still think that money is more important to them than respect. all things concerned….money talks and everything else walks.
