USC Morning Buzz: Lincoln Riley Expects High-Level Defense

Lincoln Riley spoke after USC’s second spring practice today and promised a significantly improved defense.

“We expect to be an extremely high-level defense here at USC,” he said. “No reason in the world why we can’t and why we won’t be. And we expect that that will happen and happen soon.”

  • Riley said freshman quarterback Malachi Nelson had shoulder surgery in December. Nelson is able to throw but is not allowed to have contact but the quarterbacks never are anyways.

“Malachi hasn’t had maybe the most ideal start in terms of having shoulder surgery in late December,” Riley said. “He hasn’t been able to go full go in terms of the offseason and throwing. In fact his first day of real throwing was Sunday, our first practice. He’s talented. He’s eager.”

  • Riley said Eric Gentry is not going to partcipate in spring practice.

    1. Hey So. Cal, the CRAP convention for Trump’s keynote rant, according to most pundits and former Gov. Christy, was only half full, if that.

#”You can fool all of the people some of the time; and, some of the people all the time; but, you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.”

#What do you call Trump with a load of sh*t in his diaper?

      A Clown U grad.

      1. I’m glad to hear it was half full. You obviously can’t read. I don’t want him in 2024. I appreciate all that he accomplished, but he had his shot. It’s time for new blood.

Just because I knew a fragile old man with dementia wasn’t the answer in 2020 doesn’t mean I am a Trump fan. Amazing how many dementia supporters don’t get that!

Although if it comes down to Trump versus Dementia Joe, Kackling Kamala or Gruesome Newsom, you’d better believe I’ll support him next year!!

      2. Donald J. Trump is a very virile man who can walk down a ramp and can play golf, provided he gets to ride in a cart, sometimes across the greens, so leave him out of this.

    2. So how does taking pleasure in someone slipping correlate to the pain and suffering you claim Americans are going through. Please provide details, stay on point, and void your childish rebuttal…thanks.

      1. Anyone who truly cared about that old man in 2020 would not have put him in this position. The one most guilty of not caring about him is Jill! If she truly loved him, she would have never put him out there to endure the humiliation.

But I’m glad you were able to present the question as an adult and not your usual childish tantrum.

      2. ONCE AGAIN!…..You’re avoiding the question.

“So how does taking pleasure in someone slipping correlate to the pain and suffering you claim Americans are going through. Please provide details, stay on point, and void your childish rebuttal…thanks”.

I never knew walking up and down steps was part of Biden’s job description.

Please provide details of the pain and suffering you speak of in an adult matter.

Or using your own childish rebuttal- clueless as usual. Why can’t you carry on an adult conversation with respect to Biden? I am being civil so should you. Let’s debate this. Please stick to facts, opinions are not necessary…thanks

    3. Obviously our prez has one foot in the grave [& it would probably come in handy on the stairs to Air Force One] —- but don’t underestimate his political skills. He’s still awfully good at pressing the right buttons with his base.

      1. Michelle is too smart to give up a wonderful life traveling, speaking at conferences and shopping for $3700 pairs of boots to put up with all the bullshit associated with running for President.

      2. Well, that’s OK, because Tweedle Dee claims Joe is running again and going to win.

And Tweedle Dum claims below that Joe cares about all of us equally, Democrats and Republicans. Yes, someone is actually trying to make that claim. Funny stuff, indeed!

  3. Scooter,

Realistically, do you expect Machai to stat over Moss let alone the 8th Heisman Trophy winner for USC? Let him get his shoulder healed completely. No need to rush him. By Sept. he should be okay. Hopefully he is not needed this season and he can learn and gain experience in practice

  4. SoCal, your delight in Biden’s struggles are a sad attempt at deflection. You should pray that your own problems are not exposed in such a highly public fashion. Biden beat Trump, fair and square. Move on, talk USC or go find an echo chamber that supports your irrational anger at someone who cares more about you than you care about your fellow Americans. You think your “owning the libs” but as a lifelong independent I can say your making more folks leave both parties rather than be affiliated with sociopaths who can’t escape the captivity of denial that permeates both sides of the political discussion.

You’ve become more tired than tebow.
