A USC Connection You Might Not Know About

There are of Cinderellas in the NCAA Tournament and while it wasn’t one of the biggest upset, Florida Atlantic surprised some with its victory over Memphis.

Florida Atlantic coach Dusty May was an administrative assistant/video coordinator at USC from 2000-02 under Henry Bibby.

May left USC to take an administrative job at Indiana and then was an assistant at Eastern Michigan, Murray State, Alabama-Birmingham and Florida.

Florida Atlantic was his first head-coaching position and this is his fifth season. After hovering around .500 his first four seasons, Florida Atlantic is 32-3.

  1. Dusty May is worth a study i.e. it’s the way Haden snagged Enfield after FGCU ‘dunk city’ surprised the NCAAplayoff with their deep run way back in 2013. The move to hire Enfield made sense then but now it’s way past any real credibility Enfield has learned any real skills for these past10 years.

  13. There is something about Enfield as a coach that just doesnt work. He gets the players and his teams go on runs, but then they always collapse in the big games.

    If Bohn were a smart AD he would have fired Enfield before his contract renewed. But USC doesnt really support basketball, so what winning coach would want to stay?

    Quite frankly, I say we should just focus on football until we have a dominant program that can win national championships. Then we can fix basketball later.
