No, USC Doesn’t Need Indoor Football Facility

There were some hot takes at the rainy USC Pro Day about the lack of an indoor practice facility.

Why? Because people are generally ignorant.

First off, the weather in Southern California doesn’t require an indoor facility. Also, USC coaches over the years actually liked have some practices in inclement weather to prepare them for road games.

If it rained, they didn’t want to run indoors and escape the elements.

Yes, if you are in the Midwest or East Coast, it makes sense for an indoor facility. Or say, Arizona, where the heat can be excessive.

But Southern California? Just because it rained on Pro Day doesn’t prove anything, except some fans have no idea what they are talking about.

I bet Wolf had YOU and other prominent blog members in mind when penned that accurate sentence.

  2. I don’t know about ignorant, but I do know that some people believe football exists in domed stadiums. Those are the ones who read Scott’s writing to see what the truth is.
Helton wanted an indoor facility to practice punts. Sark wanted indoor facilities so the team wouldn’t want to share his private “water cooler.” Orgeron wanted indoor facilities so no one could see him passing out cookies. Kiffin wanted indoor facilities in order to ban a member of the media from attending practices. And that’s how we became ignorant.

  3. So, where are we on UCLA winning or losing?….post your thoughts.

My disdain for UCLA aside, a chance to bring home a natty for the conference helps improve the overall perception of the PAC12 at the national level.

    I say WIN!

    (owns, you have my support)

Off subject: Come football season I’m hoping USC and UCLA go into their showdown undefeated and ranked numbers 1 and 2 in the country….I’d like the game tied going into the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter…. when USC begins it’s final drive I wanna see it on the Coliseum mega screen ….with the Trojan Band Playing Conquest as we rack up one first down after another….and Kirk Herbstreit is saying, “watch carefully —you’ll never see anything like this again — USC has been playing with UCLA…. now they’re tearing them apart…”

  7. In Wooden’s time I believe it only took 4 wins to get the National Title,
but today it takes 2 wins to get into a position where 4-wins will win the title, so I say, “Goodbye little suclas and good riddance’

  9. Horse feathers!!! We need more than an indoor facility. We need two! We need to show recruits that We Are SC! What better way to make that impression on your prized recruits than by showing them that we have an indoor field so we can prepare for games that are on artificial turf, and then we can show them our β€œother” indoor field that has natural turf that we roll out to get real sunshine. If we can have Billion Dollar settlements for incredibly horrible things that employees did, then we can have TWO indoor fields. If we can have more students from Communist China than from all other countries combined, then we can have TWO indoor facilities. If SC isn’t going to be good in football, then what is it going to be good for? Handing out fake degrees to crooked politicians? Maybe. But that’s a limited market and usually that’s pretty hush hush.

  10. Totally agree… USC needing an indoor practice facility is almost as ridiculous of an idea as USC becoming a member of a Midwestern conference.
