USC Notes: Darwin Barlow Is Upbeat

If I was Darwin Barlow, I would be looking for another school where I could be the No. 1 tailback.

But Barlow is upbeat this spring when discussing his attitude.

“Just keep showing up every day,” Barlow said. “When I show up, make sure I bring what I need to bring. Showing the coaches that they can trust me. That I got this on the field. That when they put me in, I’m going to produce every time. Just keep competing. I know when I do get the opportunity I’m going to make the most out of it for sure.”

Hopefully, he gets a chance in the fall.

  2. –Just checked out Mr. Barlow’s Spring interview and he is as good as it gets,
    saying how he is “blessed” to be at SC and with Coach ‘Wiley, calls a reporter “Sir” at one point, and helped carry the oxygen tank for his high school coach since 8th grade.
    — In comparing the offenses of Ton-o-Hel’ and ‘Wiley he said of the former, they just said find the hole and run to it whereas with Wiles “you better know the play”

  3. Even if he intends to enter the transfer portal, he would want to say the same thing. Play the good soldier and do your best to look good and then seek the best opportunity. He sure looks ripped in that photo.

    Neither Austin Jones nor Marshawn Llloyd are such superstars that they are guaranteed to be better than Barlow.

    When Dye was out last season, they should have played Barlow more and Jones less. I looked back at the stats. Barlow only played in 4 games, but in 3 of those games he averaged over 8 yards per carry. in the ND game he has only one attempt for a 3 yard loss. Austin Jones was averaging under 3 yards per carry in the two final games of the year – Pac 12 championship and the bowl game against Tulane.

    2. Agree Gametv. Barlow was very effective running the ball against UCLA. He has some real power and appears more shifty than Austin Jones. The only thing I can surmise is maybe he struggles with pass blocking and with Reilly’s offense you better pass block.

      1. Barlow does have a slight build so a charging lineman will be a problem for him,
        and besides, split ends, running backs and quarterbacks have the mentality of
        “I’m not into any stinkin’ blocking, there’s no heroics in that”
        No, just the difference quite often between winning and losing a game is all

  5. Really dumb executive order signed today. Guaranteed there will be so many biological men taking over women’s sports, especially when they realize they can get free college. That will be followed by a mess of complaints and lawsuits until our brilliant leaders reverse the decision. I understand the idealism coming from a point of compassion, but it will not end up being compassionate toward the biological women who lose their spots, scholarships, and opportunities.
