The USC band is playing all day today at Catalina island. There is a golf cart parade at 1 p.m. and a Catalina casino concert at 7:30 p.m. and then pre-and-post fireworks performances at the Wrigley stage.

  • It’s the Fourth of July and that means time to run this wonderful color photo of the fireworks show at the Coliseum in 1964, that even lit up Mudd Hall and the USC campus.

The Mudd Hall Bell Tower was used in the 1923 version of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.”

    1. KAM: Fake News NY Times Defends Racist Black D e m o c r a t Organizer of ‘Muslims Only’ Swim Party!

DON: I guess as long as the event was separate, but entirely equal to other pool parties, D e m o c r a t s would be fine with it.

  1. A different time, and a different city. One that was much better in some ways than today, despite all of the technological advances that has been made since those photos were taken.

Happy 4th Trojans! Baby back ribs on the grill later today here. Salt, jalapeno powder, garlic and onion powders, lime and olive oil marinade.

    1. KAM: Mamdani’s Communist Democrat New York City.

Con Edison shut off power to 10,000 customers in Queens, New York, on Friday as temperatures soared over 100 degrees.

This is after Communist NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani urged New Yorkers to raise their thermostats to 78 degrees to alleviate strain on the energy grid.

“ConEd pulls the plug on nearly 10,000 customers in Howard Beach, Ozone Park, Richmond Hill and South Ozone Park as power demand soars with temps pushing 100 degree,” 4 New York reported.

Who would expect shortages under communism?

And what about those electric cars we were told to buy to stop Global Warming?

On Thursday, Con Edison asked customers in Brooklyn and Queens to conserve energy.

DON: The customers were also asked not to charge their electric vehicles!

      1. Here in CA, we’ve been asked to keep ours at 78 for more than a decade during hot spells, so we don’t cause issues for our power grid. 78 degrees is comfortable. (When it’s 78 outside, most people consider that a beautiful day!) I’d rather do it and reduce the risk that power goes out completely. There are LOTS of reasons to dislike Mamdani, but this is not one of them.

      2. But it IS hilarious that they’ve asked everyone to move to electric cars, then ask them not to charge them during heatwaves.

        Idiots.
