USC Sunday Buzz: Transaction Time

Lincoln Riley held his press conference yesterday in the new football building. But USC is not allowing any visual documentation of the inside of the building yet, so it was probably the first press conference in years that didn’t include video from local media.

  • Josh Goossen-Brown, the director of player development for USC baseball, has been hired as an assistant coach at Santa Clara.
  • Former USC wide receiver Jay Fair is seeking a fifth-year of eligibility following Friday’s legal ruling that made all Class of 2022 athletes’ eligible. Whether USC is interested remains to be seen.
  • Former USC women’s basketball player Rayah Marshall has signed a 7-day contract with the Connecticut Sun.
  • The USC band played at the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday night.

  1. Jay Fair – 4.4 40 speed, he caught over 30 balls in 2023, last year I believe he was injured. Sounds like a good decision to bring him back.

    1. Better than listening to CAL’s fightsong.

You don’t even have your own song.

Go support Prop 40 and see how it eventually trickles down to the middle class.

  3. DON: So SC had an open house for its new Football Building, but no filming of the premises allowed

KAM: Makes sense. They probably haven’t completely set everything up yet

DON: Great for Trojan fans, but can you imagine having to sit through all of ucla’s songs-

  6. KAM: Clever SC sign that reads “The Iowa Hawkeyes have Requested Silence”

DON: Which sarcastically is egging on the Trojan crowd

KAM: Make it so loud that you jam the opposing team’s signals

DON: Some say it is unfair a crowd can have that kind of influence on the game

  7. KAM: There were 2 mass shootings over the weekend. Statistically speaking, there is at least 1 every day in the U.S.

DON: And it seems our country is No. 1

  8. Scott, thanks for the tidbits of news. Good to hear that our fantastic band is getting great exposure for the student musicians. What was the musical program? The five year eligibility rule does away with the bogus need to have a medical excuse or only play in four games to retain eligibility. And, most degree courses for athletes take five years to complete because of their athletic schedule. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

    1. KAM: No thanks for getting rid of it in the first place.

DON: Watch it get dropped when the 24 team playoff and expansion of the Big Ten happens.
