Prentice Gill, the wide receivers coach at Arizona State, has turned down a three-year contract offer to coach tight ends at USC, according to a source in Tempe. Gill, who is a former USC assistant coach, was offered the job by the USC administration, not Clay Helton, which shows you again who runs the show these days. The three-year deal was a demonstration that USC … Continue reading News: Arizona State Assistant Turns Down USC Offer

I want to circle back to the departure of Chris Claiborne to Arizona State because I think it says a lot about USC. Claiborne got hired last year at USC as an analyst. Defensive coordinator Todd Orlando did not want him so Claiborne was put on offense. No USC linebacker other than Claiborne ever won the Butkus Award and he got put on offense? That … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: You Have To Fit The Profile To Coach

Former USC tight end Daniel Imatorbhebhe is transferring to Kansas State. His college career started in the spring of 2015 when he enrolled at Florida. He transferred to USC in fall of 2015, and drew interest in 2016 when he caught 17 passes for 250 yards. Some mentioned him as a possible preseason All-American. Then he was hurt in 2017, hurt in 2018, sat out … Continue reading Daniel Imatorbhebhe Picks A Fourth School

Texas tailback Keontay Ingram is transferring to USC. Ingram has had an up-and-down career at Texas. He was only the fourth-leading rusher last season (250 yards) but missed four games with an ankle injury. His best season came in 2019 when he had 144 carries for 853 yards and seven touchdowns. He didn’t have much future at Texas with the emergence of freshman tailback Bijan … Continue reading USC Gets Transfer Running Back

I can’t say I remember parents of USC players being more critical of Clay Helton or the other coaches on social media than in the past few months. And it comes after a 5-1 season. I don’t try to track it like some do because I don’t really follow the parents. But several comments have come across social media, never by the same parent, and … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Criticism Coming From Embarrassing Source

I wrote yesterday to expect more coaching departures and Arizona State has hired Chris Claiborne as linebackers coach. USC should never let its Butkus Award winner go to a Pac-12 rival. Claiborne has a ton of Southern California recruiting contacts. It’s telling when he worked at USC this past season, he was put on the offensive side of the staff. Not even coaching linebackers, which … Continue reading Arizona State Hires Chris Claiborne
