LSU Lands Another Local Commitment
Jaden Navarrette, a four-star tight athlete from Norco, committed to LSU on Saturday night as Ed Orgeron continues to raid Southern California for prospects. Navarrette plays tight end, wide receiver and defensive end/linebacker for Norco. Yes, he was offered a scholarship by USC. Orgeron also has commitments from the nation’s No. 1-ranked cornerback, Elias Ricks, from Mater Dei and defensive tackle Jordan Berry from Narbonne. Clay Helton Quote Of The Day
USC coach Clay Helton is pretty adept at saying things that have no basis in reality. “We can literally let everybody come in here and watch this, we really don’t care,” Helton said Saturday. “We want to be able to set our standard and play to that standard.” Oh really? Then why did he keep the offense basic on Saturday with a Pac-12 Network audience? … Continue reading Clay Helton Quote Of The Day
Was USC Spring Showcase Indicative Of Coming Season?
Graham Harrell made sure to stay as far away from Clay Helton during the spring practice. And someone should tell the Pac-12 Network that it’s Joe DeForest, not John. Jokes aside, I’m not sure how people are able to determine how USC will be next season based on snippets of scrimmaging at Cromwell Field? Markese Stepp has been a star at spring practice but did … Continue reading Was USC Spring Showcase Indicative Of Coming Season?
Paul Westphal Makes Naismith Hall Of Fame
Former USC guard Paul Westphal was elected to the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame today. Westphal is the 11th Trojan in the Basketball Hall of Fame, joining 6 other men — Bill Sharman, Jack Gardner, Alex Hannum, Tex Winter and coaches Sam Barry and George Raveling — along with 4 women (Cheryl Miller, Cynthia Cooper, Lisa Leslie and Tina Thompson). Westphal was on the 1971 … Continue reading Paul Westphal Makes Naismith Hall Of Fame
Spring Showcase Saturday!
Don’t expect this glorified practice to prove too much if you are in attendance or watching the too-enthusiastic Pac-12 Network coverage. It’s better to be here at Cromwell Field in person because otherwise you hear Yogi Roth sound like nothing is wrong with the Trojans. On the other hand, USC security is telling people not to have their cell phones out . . . for … Continue reading Spring Showcase Saturday!
Double Duty For Lynn Swann?
It looks like Jamie Dixon is staying at TCU. Like I said, this seach is how I envision Lynn Swann looking for a football coach. Didn’t UCLA know Dixon’s buyout was $8 million? Didn’t they want Dixon enough to pay it? Why would TCU ever lower the buyout? Continue reading Double Duty For Lynn Swann?
