Bill Walton Back At The Galen Center
ESPN2 will have Dave Pasch and Bill Walton at the Galen Center on Tuesday for the USC-North Carolina-Asheville game. There might be about 8,000 less fans than were at the Galen Center for Walton’s last visit, the USC-UCLA game. Continue reading Bill Walton Back At The Galen Center
USC Picture Of The Day
I was watching the 1980 USC-Arizona State game and could not help but notice the Trojan player lounging on the sideline at the top of the photo. It’s a great illustration of how less crowded the sidelines were in those days. And don’t be too hard on the player. Remember, last season, USC players were taking selfies on the sideline at the Colorado game in … Continue reading USC Picture Of The Day
Blame Andy Enfield’s Stubborness For NCAA Woes
For several years, I have complained that USC coach Andy Enfield refuses to upgrade the Trojans’ schedule. It played a critical role in the selection committee’s decision to deny USC an NCAA Tournament bid. USC was 0-5 against the Pac-12 teams who made the NCAA Tournament. It also lost to Texas A&M and Oklahoma, who made the Tournament. It’s only victories vs. NCAA Tournament teams … Continue reading Blame Andy Enfield’s Stubborness For NCAA Woes
Former Kansas/West Virginia Assistant Joe DeForest Joins Staff
USC coach Clay Helton has hired Joe DeForest, who was special teams coach at Kansas last season. Since USC already has 10 assistant coaches, it will probably give DeForest some type of title like special teams quality control assistant. Maybe this hire will help last season’s dreadful special … Continue reading Former Kansas/West Virginia Assistant Joe DeForest Joins Staff
USC Will Host UNC-Asheville In NIT
USC is a No. 1 seed in the NIT and will host UNC-Asheville (21-12), winners of the Big South Conference. Yeah, that game ought to draw a great crowd. How many concession stands will be closed for that game? Hey, it might work out if USC wins the NIT. Or not. The game is Tuesday night at 8 p.m. at the Galen Center and will … Continue reading USC Will Host UNC-Asheville In NIT
USC Does Not Make NCAA Tournament
Jerry Palm was right! USC does not make the NCAA Tournament. UCLA and Arizona State did. I thought being second in the Pac-12 and Pac-12 Tournament would be enough. But the other truth is USC did not have quality victories. And the Pac-12 was not considered that tough, so being No. 2 is apparently not an accomplishment. What a comedown for a team ranked No. … Continue reading USC Does Not Make NCAA Tournament
