Alex Grinch Returning To Coliseum
USC hasn’t seen the last of Alex Grinch after all as Wisconsin hired Grinch to be its safeties coach. Did you just lose some respect for Luke Fickell? Grinch (and linebacker Tackett Curtis) return to the Coliseum on Sept. 28. If USC doesn’t win that game, there will be hell to pay on social media. Grinch inherits All-Big Ten safety Hunter Wohler and replaces safeties … Continue reading Alex Grinch Returning To Coliseum
The Pete Carroll Coaching Tree Produces NFL Coach
The familiar names of the Pete Carroll coaching tree are Lane Kiffin, Ed Orgeron and Steve Sarkisian. But Carroll’s just produced another NFL head coach as the Panthers hired Dave Canales, who back in 2009 was an offensive administrative assistant at USC. Canales, who went to Carson High School and Azusa Pacific, followed Carroll to Seattle and the rest, as they say, is history. After … Continue reading The Pete Carroll Coaching Tree Produces NFL Coach
USC Morning Buzz: The Egos Have Landed
We could have quite a collection of egos in the South Bay soon. Jim Harbaugh is coaching the Chargers. Lincoln Riley is coaching USC. If Pete Carroll doesn’t get an NFL job, he could move back. And for good measure, Lane Kiffin comes back to visit his family. I would throw Rams coach Sean McVay in there, but he’s tucked away in Hidden Hills. Harbaugh … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: The Egos Have Landed
USC Schedule Just Got A Little Easier
Jim Harbaugh is going to become the coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, according to Adam Schefter. Sorry Pete Carroll. More importantly, USC plays at Michigan on Sept. 21 minus Harbaugh. Not to mention all the players who left. It’s a different level of opponent. It’s going to be interesting to see who Michigan hires. If they promote assistant coach Sherrone Moore, it might hold … Continue reading USC Schedule Just Got A Little Easier
USC Notes: A Coach Who Deserves Contract Extension
USC baseball coach Andy Stankiewicz should be demanding a contract extension. USC has 27 home games this season and 21 will be played at Orange County Great Park in Irvine; three midweek contests will be at Loyola Marymount and a three-game series against Oregon State (March 28-30) will be played at UC Irvine. USC will also practice daily at El Camino College in Torrance. This … Continue reading USC Notes: A Coach Who Deserves Contract Extension
USC Morning Buzz: Rules? What Rules?
This week, the National Labor Relations Board trial continued on the issue of whether USC football and basketball players should be considered employees. I enjoy the unintended things that get said in these trials. Like on Tuesday, when USC executive senior associate AD Paul Perrier testified. Perrier said the USC men’s basketball team has team “expectations” but not team rules, per Front Office Sports. He … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Rules? What Rules?
