The Los Al pipeline to USC continued today as four-star wide receiver Makai Lemon of Los Alamitos committed to USC. The Class of 2023 prospect was previously committed to Oklahoma but decommitted after Lincoln Riley got hired at USC. Lemon is the third decommitment from Oklahoma to follow Riley to USC, joining his teammate, QB Malachi Nelson, and TB Raleek Brown of Mater Dei. Continue reading Makai Lemon To USC

The Lincoln Riley Era is officially underway. I’ve always written a mannequin could do a better job than some USC coaches (like Paul Hackett and Clay Helton) because the mannequin won’t do any damage. Riley is obviously a good coach so it should be fairly easy for USC to once again become the top program in the Pac-12. I like that he brought a new … Continue reading If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column

Five-star tailback Raleek Brown of Mater Dei committed to USC this afternoon, as expected. So Lincoln Riley has now flipped two five stars he had committed to Oklahoma: Brown and QB Malachi Nelson of Los Alamitos. Rumors were flying yesterday that some players did not want to practice because they were upset over the status of interim coach Donte Williams. The start of Wednesday’s practice was delayed 45 minutes and there was a team meeting. Significantly, four-star cornerback Jaeden Gould of Oradell, New Jersey, announced he decommited from USC, which could be taken as a sign Williams was not returning to … Continue reading Morning Buzz: Did USC Almost Have A Mutiny Yesterday?

I’m trying to think of the right word for this hire: Unimpressive? Laughable? If Jedd the Fisch just wants someone for recruiting, OK. But Johnny Nansen has never been a defensive coordinator at the college level. He actually coached running backs at USC before he switched to linebackers. He was the defensive line coach at UCLA last season. The coaching profession is really something else. Continue reading Former USC Assistant Johnny Nansen Named Defensive Coordinator At Arizona
