Matt Campbell Showing What Could Be At USC
I wrote a lot about Iowa State coach Matt Campbell last season being the right type of candidate to replace Clay Helton. Iowa State is one game away from the Big 12 title game after a 23-20 victory over Texas on Friday. If Mike Bohn prefers Luke Fickell, more power to him. But imagine if Campbell came in this season. Do you think USC would … Continue reading Matt Campbell Showing What Could Be At USC
If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column
Well, now what? No USC-Colorado game. Immediate reaction: Saturday will be a lot less stressful! No worries about blown timeouts, penalties, bad playcalling, etc. USC now wins a tiebreaker with Colorado if both teams win out. USC would be 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the Pac-12 South. Colorado would be 4-0, 3-0. With Colorado 2-0 this season, it means the teams taken off USC’s original … Continue reading If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column
USC-Colorado Game Canceled
Well, this is not exactly a surprise with at least eight USC players quarantined as of today. The USC-Colorado game is off. The shame is both teams are undefeated in the Pac-12 South. Colorado is expected to play San Diego State instead on Saturday. So what would a 6-0 season get USC? Not much. USC Cancels Practice Amid New COVID-19 Fear
USC released a statement that a third player is being evaluated because of “symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection.” The on-campus practice at 4 p.m. will now be conducted virtually. A key to this is if the third player has COVID-19, it would as a workplace outbreak under Los Angeles County health guidelines, which could force the cancellation of the Colorado game. It’s worth noting USC … Continue reading USC Cancels Practice Amid New COVID-19 Fear
USC Thanksgiving Buzz: Late Practice For Trojans
USC practices this afternoon instead of its traditional 11 a.m. practice on Thanksgiving Day. It’s believed the practice time was switched to keep players from spending all day with their families. It was also done before the news of a player testing positive for COVID-19. Clay Helton said there are starters among the seven players under quarantine for COVID-19. Helton said today tailbacks Markese Stepp … Continue reading USC Thanksgiving Buzz: Late Practice For Trojans
Thanks, Enfield!
USC won but I’m still giving this game a “Thanks, Enfield!” USC was a 19-point favorite over Cal Baptist and had to score the last five points of regulation just to send the game to OT. Seriously. USC won, 95-87, as Evan Mobley scored 21 points, including six in OT. Tahj Eaddy added 18 points. It’s basketball season! Continue reading Thanks, Enfield!
