A former USC coach, currently in the NFL, told me Monday night, “it sounds like Graham Harrell might be the coach after the Alabama game,” after hearing all the coaching transactions being made. That might be extreme but he is the second NFL coach in two days to say this weekend’s purge sounds like a perfect way to elevate Harrell. Imagine not even doing a … Continue reading Morning Buzz: Will USC Make The Boy Wonder A Midseason Replacement?

Willie Wood, the first African-American quarterback to play at USC and the Pacific Coast Conference, died Monday. He was 83. Wood went undrafted in 1960 but signed with the Green Bay Packers and played safety. I can’t say there is a … Continue reading Who Wants To Be USC Recruiting Coordinator?

USC was supposed to add a quarterback this week. But Blake Shapen, who was considered a safe bet to sign with the Trojans, committed to Baylor after new Bears coach Dave Aranda offered him a scholarship last week. That means USC will need to look at prospects it brought for visits as insurance policies, like tailback Elijah Turner, if it wants to sign 2-3 players … Continue reading USC Loses QB Prospect
