If you listened to this morning’s podcast, I talked about how I heard Mater Dei QB Bryce Young could be close to decommiting from USC and going to Alabama. From what I hear, this is not news to any insiders at Mater Dei and it is unrelated to JT Daniels‘ knee injury. The fact Young might decommit would be devastating simply because he has consistently … Continue reading USC Rumor Of The Day
QUARTERBACK JT Daniels was on fire at the outset until Fresno State figured out the new Air Raid offense. Kedon Slovis played about the way you would expect a true freshman who didn’t expect to play. Clay Helton created this mess. GRADE: C+ TAILBACK Vavae Malepeai had 134 yards and Stephen Carr 56. But again, when USC needed a critical yard, the same problems as … Continue reading USC-Fresno State Report Card
Here is this week’s podcast with Aram Tolegian where I break down the Fresno State game and look at the Stanford game with freshman Kedon Slovis at quarterback. This is known as progress with USC because Pendergast mostly plays man coverage. Of course, if USC plays as much man coverage as it did Saturday against teams that can pass, it could be a really long game. Pendergast said last week USC can … Continue reading USC Notes: Defense Makes “Slight” Change

I heard all spring and summer from people that the strength program was amazing and turning everyone into Superman. But the defense was tiring . . . against Fresno State. Meanwhile, the New York Times takes a look … Continue reading Clay Helton Says Defense Tired; Lynn Swann Shirks Duty
I found out Clay Helton called the fourth-down play that USC failed to converted late in the game Saturday night. Why is this important? The CEO said he had turned the offense over to Graham Harrell. But he couldn’t resist getting involved on the fourth-down call. Not to mention going for it when USC should have punted. Genius Graham Harrell might be the program savior … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Fresno State Fallout
