Donte Williams said kicker Parker Lewis was benched Saturday because he needed to be held accountable after missing a field goal and extra point at Notre Dame. Lewis has made 11 of 13 field goals and 18 of 19 extra points, so it seems a little harsh to me. But I’m all for accountability. So when do these coaches — including Williams — get held … Continue reading Some Are Held Accountable, Some Are Not
It has generally been assumed when USC hires a new coach, Donte Williams will be retained as an assistant coach. Williams is an excellent recruiter and the USC administration likes him, so it was no stretch to think he would remain. But a Pac-12 coach told me this weekend he doesn’t think a lot of coaching candidates would keep Williams. “A strong coach won’t want … Continue reading Morning Buzz: Does USC Need To Completely Clean House?
As expected, junior wide receiver Drake London suffered a fractured ankle in Saturday’s victory over Arizona, Donte Williams said Sunday night. London is out for the season. Williams was less forthcoming about the quarterback rotation. “I don’t know if we’ll rotate going forward,” he said. “It’s a chance that we could keep rotating going forward. We’re actually the ones that are lucky. We have two … Continue reading Drake London Out For Season With Fractured Ankle

It’s hard to get excited about the good, like Keaontay Ingram rushing for 186 yards, when you consider the defensive breakdowns. Arizona had the worst pass offense in the Pac-12 (210 yards per game) and threw for 339 yards. And it’s not just one guy in the … Continue reading Sunday Buzz: This Should Not Be USC Football
What an appalling performance. USC let a team that has lost 19 straight games amass 466 yards in offense with its No. 3 QB. Todd Orlando, Craig Naivar (safeties) and Donte Williams (corners) have done a terrible job with the defense. Can you imagine if USC played in a real conference? A 7-point victory is embarrassing. No other way to say it. The rotation of … Continue reading Discuss The USC-Arizona Game
The picture above is the crowd at kickoff. Is this the worst camerawork ever for a USC game? Awful moment as Drake London gets into cart and heads to locker room USC leads 14-7 after first quarter but doesn’t look better. It’s just playing a worse team. Kedon Slovis to Gary Bryant for 62-yard TD. Jedd the Fisch, baby. Oh my, Isaiah Pola-Mao with another … Continue reading USC-Arizona Live Blog
