USC coach Clay Helton has hired Joe DeForest, who was special teams coach at Kansas last season. DeForest was the defensive coordinator at West Virginia in 2012 and then coached special teams from 2013-15. Since USC already has 10 assistant coaches, it will probably give DeForest some type of title like special teams quality control assistant. USC Loses To Arizona, Now Waits For NCAA Berth

USC lost to Arizona, 75-61, in the Pac-12 championship game. USC was outrebounded 42-19. Arizona’s Deandre Ayton had 32 points and 18 rebounds for the Wildcats. Former USC Fullback Doug MacKenzie Passes Away

Doug MacKenzie was a fullback who played at USC from 1979-81. That means he was a fullback who blocked for two Heisman Trophy winners (Charles White, Marcus Allen). In the above picture, he is blocking for Allen in the 1980 USC-Arizona State game. MacKenzie died on Feb. 24. He had suffered a stroke in 2016. He was 59.
