There’s Always A USC Connection

Bob Einstein, best known to many as Super Dave Osborne, died today. He was 76. He was also  Marty Funkhouser on HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

The USC connection was Super Dave’s sidekick, Mike Walden, who was USC’s play-by-play announcer from 1966-72 but did USC games for various networks for several decades and is in the USC Hall of Fame. He was also UCLA’s play-by-play announcer, the only person to be both school’s primary announcer.

  1. I never got into Super Dave. However, the one I will miss will be, “Mean” Gene Okerlund. He was a professional through and through and he made the “wrastlers”, bigger than they are. “OHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEEEEAAAAAA”, and ” Bruther”, come to my mind when I think of Okerlund. References to Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan. BTW, Randy Savage played baseball for the St. Louis Cardinal organization before he “wrestled”. Ernie Ladd played for the Chiefs before he went into thee square circle. There are some very great athletes in that in that business. May they both RIP.
