Lynn Swann finally spoke about the college admissions scandal and it was as delusional as when he discusses Clay Helton and USC football.
“I think everybody was blindsided by this,” Swann told the Los Angeles Times. “Everyone was completely shocked, caught off guard and taken by surprise.”
Especially the out-of-touch athletic director who ceded day-to-day duties from Day 1 to his subordinates.
The worst part is when Swann said he would not resign and offered a defense of his qualifications.
“I have not considered resigning. I’m committed to this school and I’m committed to this job. This was an opportunity that presented itself to me. I never went out looking for this job, but this is a job I feel I’m prepared for.
“Everything I do at USC, I’ve done before for someone else whether that’s raising capital, sitting on corporate boards, being chairman of the board of trustees for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, chairman of the President’s Council on Sports Fitness and Nutrition.”
Sitting on boards is a great qualification. No wonder he’s done such a great job.
Aren’t people who sit on boards supposed to take responsibility when bad things happen? Swann never does.
In Swannie’s defense, Pat Haden was the one who installed Donna Heinel and allowed her to have almost unprecedented control. The bad people in all of this are Heinel and Haden.
Plus, we know all about Pat Haden and sham charities . . .

Remember when he let his personal bias regarding his son involve SC into boycotting Indiana?
Pat Haden says he won’t attend playoff selection committee meeting in Indy
USA TODAY SportsPublished 1:05 p.m. ET March 31, 2015 | Updated 8:17 p.m. ET March 31, 2015
The new Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act is causing consternation all across the country.
On Tuesday, Southern California athletics director Pat Haden — a member of the College Football Playoff selection committee — said in a post on Twitter that he is the “proud father of a gay son” and would not attend the CFP meeting this week in Indianapolis, site of the Final Four.
The Indiana law, which was signed by Gov. Mike Pence on Thursday, could protect businesses that don’t want to provide service to gay and lesbian couples based on “religious freedom.”
I am the proud father of a gay son. In his honor, I will not be attending the CFP committee meeting in Indy this week. #EmbraceDiversity

Interesting to see what Haden says about “der kommandant Obergruppenführer und der Konzentrationslager Frau Heilen”, under oath of his dealings once he promoted her.

Swann still should resign. He’s always thinking about himself. Flies out to play golf at Augusta after he hired Kingsbury who bolts for the NFL, meanwhile he knows how Helton needs his hand to be held yet he leaves when the fire is still burning to golf and is still going to make an upcoming autographs convention in Virginia soon. What place allows this to happen?
Swann is very much the same as Haden. They make moves for themselves.

Lol at sitting on board = qualification of a top level administrative position. Not surprised that he thinks this way because most board members I’ve known thought they were way more important than they actually were.
SC’s legal defense to the CA lawsuit should be, “we did you a favor. You really want to be a part of this shit show?”

Actually a clever defense, Saul. In fact, let’s take it one step further —- USC should counter-sue them for double-dipping…..

Mike Lori Laughlin and the others involved are getting sued by a mother who’s son was not accepted to some of the schools involved for a small amount. Not much just $500,000,000!
When she gets her settlement I must run into her in my finest suit and tie😀

Sam —My first reaction to the Oakland mom’s lawsuit was ‘somebody needs to get this gal familiar with the concept of remittitur’ —-then it hit me that mom’s case will never go anywhere — so no need to clutter her mind with the concept of damages.
As far as Swann —doesn’t he sound like every other unqualified (and clueless) executive on trial for gross negligence?: “This came as a total surprise!”

So —-at least they’re both on record now: (1) Swann plans on staying until somebody comes along with the balls to fire him and (2) Helton threatened to stick around for 15 more years. What’s truly astounding is even the very best Athletic Directors and Head Coaches don’t talk like this…..

I think, next to winning a ‘NC’ in football, will be, at Heritage Hall the moment it is announced Swann is “…no longer the athletic director of USC.”
The topper will be if TMZ finds him trying to leave and a camera shoved in his lazy face asking “Hey where to now? You going to split the bill, you know that motivational idiocy, with Steve Garvey at the Pond?”

Swann is too arrogant to take any shred of responsibility. Leaders (not just “great leaders”) take responsibility for the actions of the people under their supervision. They don’t claim ignorance and play the victim.

In a way all these self delusional, self serving, self promotional declarations by Swann and Helton have provided us all with a very illuminating look into the psychology of the huckster —-the guy who plays trickster right up until the moment there are no more tricks left to play……

Why should Swann be forced to take responsibility for his renegade employees, if Andyain’tdwinning gets a (‘I didn’t know squat’) pass for the ugly, Tony Blanton, felony recruiting scam?

owns you stupid dolt… you make this so easy on purpose or what? Even the leftist rag LAT did a better job than you presenting the case against Bland and it had absolutely nothing to do with recruiting. But when did the truth EVER get in the way of a ruin having a conversation? Hahahahaha!
From the LAT quoting Bland’s guilty plea:
“Specifically, I agreed to receive payments in exchange for directing basketball players from the University of Southern California … to retain the services of certain financial advisors and business managers.”

Owns is not known for his intellect. He can not accept that Sam Gilbert was a crook and helped his hero Wooden win championships. Wooden was a good coach on the basketball court, but totally asleep at wheel off the court. Can’t have it both ways Owns, you come over here and splay USC, but have your head so far up your ass it is coming out your nose with UCLA.

owns never was one for facts either. He pretends that there is no evidence about Gilbert. That is complete nonsense.
This comes from All-American guard Lucius Allen, who admits that Gilbert paid for Allen’s girlfriend’s abortion, and that it happened with several other players:
“Lucius Allen, a former All-American guard who played on the Bruins’ basketball team in the late 1960s, told the LA Times that Gilbert, if asked by ballplayers, would arrange and pay for an abortion.”
“It happened all the time, Allen told the Times. If a ballplayer impregnated someone, there was always a hospital available. I never paid for it and it was my case.”
“People can say what they will,’ Allen said. ‘As far as I’m concerned, he’s still my daddy.”

Yo, Pusley, Clown U’s official moron/AH
re·cruit
/rəˈkro͞ot/Submit
verb
gerund or present participle: recruiting
**enlist (someone) in the armed forces.
“they recruit their toughest soldiers from the desert tribes”
synonyms: enlist, sign up, enroll, engage, take on, round up;
***Enroll (someone) as a member or worker in an organization or as a supporter of a cause.
“there are plans to recruit more staff later this year”
synonyms: hire, employ, take on, take into one’s employ;
*****Pusley you filthy cockroach, Blanton pleaded guilty to a felony:
“Specifically, I agreed to receive payments in exchange for directing basketball players from the University of Southern California … to retain the services of certain financial advisors and business managers.”
In other words Cockroach, Blanton was illegally recruiting bozo bb players “… to retain the services of certain financial advisors and business managers.” DOH!
Now back to my original question, WHY, WHY, WHY is Andyaintwinning still employed as the HC of the Clown U BB program. If Swann needs to fall on his sword for his employee’s illegal scam than Andyain’twinning should commit seppuku next to Swann.

Mr. missing Lunk, please at your earliest possible convenience, provide the blog valid box score stats that prove unequivocally Sam Gilbert played bb at UCLA in a scheduled game.
Lunk, your bit about me having my noggin so far up my “ass” it’s coming out your (my) nose with UCLA. What a roar!
You sound exactly like Yosemite Sam. You’re so pissed off you can’t breathe and rant at the time.

I stand corrected Pusley, Bland not Blanton. Whoever is keeping score give Pusley a point. So as it stands today: Owns 12,635 points – Pusley 23.
Actually, Pusley has fewer points, but his arithmetic skills are sadly lacking. For instance, the bozo bb team won a game by 13 points. So the Pusley, the stupid 8ball, proceeds to rough me on the blog and claimed the bozo’s won by 23 points.
I believe that it’s ok to give mentally challenged adults the benefit of ignoring their delusions. Just yesterday, Pusley left his mother’s dirty, filthy basement wearing two different left shoes.
You know he had that stupid smile on his face and that silly aluminum foil helmet cocked on his head (but no cat), I just didn’t have the heart to laugh at him.

Why is it that by the time I reach the bottom of the page to comment I have completely forgotten what the original thought was?
Oh yes, Swann wants to cling to his job. I have yet to read any defence of Swann’s performance. Why would he feel safe? His qualifications, being an honorary member of boards and the President’s council on fitness -right?
The boys and girls clubs of America hold board meetings to discuss financial affairs does anyone know if Swann was present or instrumental in making beneficial contributions? And the honorary position of being on the Presidential fitness program isn’t exactly a bell ringer considering the fact that youth fitness is currently spelled with an a (fatness)
Keeping Swann around for ten more years is agreeing that we are institution without control. “We were all blindsided by this,” Swann said. Is that because you are not engaged in the day to day operations of your department or because it’s hard to see what underlings are doing when you’re on the golf course? If you ask me paying Lynn Swann his salary for ten more years is a betrayal to the trust of the students – the real customers of this enterprise known as an institute of higher education.

staying on topic is not the strong suit on this meandering blurb, but I do learn a foreign language of some unk dialect.
I happen to understand what swann stated and agree, people are mostly trustworthy in their occupations, and earn a certain modicum of trust as time goes by,and the abuse of that privilege as in this case is logically understandable, when corrupted due to love of money and what it empowers self centered people to covet above all else…think about it.
Now admissions will need to double chk with others, such as a coach about the athletes and not just an AD employee,as swann outlined.
I do not care for most of swans decisions lately, but I think he has a plausible reason for being blind sided. You can’t run a Dept like it is filled with crooks, trust has to be part of the every day atmosphere.
