USC QB Quandary

Spring practice did not produce a starting quarterback, as expected. But in a way it has put the coaches in a bind: Whether it was Saturday’s final scrimmage or other times, when there the practice went “live,” Jack Sears was the better quarterback. This is not unusual. Remember, everyone thought JT Daniels was the better QB at last fall’s training camp but then the real … Continue reading USC QB Quandary

Clay Helton Will Release A Depth Chart Internally

USC coach Clay Helton said the players would see an internal depth chart sometime next week. Why doesn’t he want the public to know? Who knows. The only position the fans really care about the depth chart is quarterback. This seems like another way Helton is trying to become more secretive. He is considering making access tougher next season, the sure sign of a beleaguered … Continue reading Clay Helton Will Release A Depth Chart Internally

USC Spring Practice Concludes

The final practice of the season included a physical live period. Jack Sears threw a 70-yard TD pass to Tyler Vaughns to highlight the period. Lynn Swann And Masters Are Perfect Combo

Read the list of rules below. It sounds just like a Lynn Swann statement to the fans. Or maybe his guide for USC radio-TV announcers: Do not mention Clay Helton‘s 5-7 season Do not mention that 3 of my employees have faced federal charges of wrongdoing Do not mention the size of the Coliseum crowd Do not mention declining season-ticket sales Do not mention that … Continue reading Lynn Swann And Masters Are Perfect Combo

USC Morning Buzz: Spring’s Conclusion Finally Arrives

The final USC spring practice is finally here. In an anti-climatic fashion, USC held three practices after its spring showcase last weekend. Today is the only practice of the week in full pads and Clay Helton is supposedly going to do some scrimmaging. The truth is nothing that happens today will really influence the QB derby because the competition will go to the fall. Here … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Spring’s Conclusion Finally Arrives
