Agustin Huneeus formally plead guilty in Boston Federal Court today. He is the seventh parent to plead guilty.
Federal prosecutors recommended he serve 15 months in prison for paying $50,000 to rig his daughter’s SAT score and $250,000 to have her accepted to USC as a water polo recruit.
“You understand that (my daughter) is not worthy to be on that team,” Huneeus told ringleader Rick Singer in recorded phone conversations, according to court records, before asking, “And is there a risk that this thing blows up in my face?”
Gordon Caplan also plead guilty. He paid $75,000 to have his daughter’s SAT score corrected. Prosecutors recommend he serve eight months in prison.
“I am deeply sorry to my daughter who I love more than anything,” Caplan said. “She knew nothing of this.”
