USC Morning Buzz: Saturday Stories

Some Saturday stories resonating within the administration offices of Heritage Hall:

I hear Lynn Swann took a one-week vacation in July. And some people say they haven’t seen him for three weeks.

  • Is it true USC men’s tennis coach Peter Smith was told he would not return by university lawyers? Not Swann or someone else in the athletic dept. That’s what some administrators are telling each other.
  • Isn’t it funny when Clay Helton says one word to describe how this season will be different is “accountability?” Helton is lucky there was no accountability last November or he would not be the coach this season.

      1. Swann’s contract:
“It will hereby be agreed to by all parties that for purposes of vacation time, Lynn Swann will be considered a full professor…
For purposes of workload, Lynn Swann will be considered a “worthless celebrity”…..

You have attacked Lynn Swann time after time about his activities. The same comments about Clay Helton are becoming obnoxious. Do you have some other assignments to explore ? As a USC ALUMNI and a graduate of the Annenberg School of Communication with highest honors ’72, I feel you need tell us what is bothering you. I’m embarrassed by your unprofessionalism and demeanor. If you want access to these two gentlemen, we can surely get it done.

  2. Same old, same old at USC

The AD is missing in action, he’s missing in action even when he’s there

Another long time respected and NC winning coach is let go in typical USC fashion these days, they are thrown out the door under the auspice that they retired or resigned.

A national championship team is given no respect and rightfully they are telling their school to eat shit.

They make another lazy hire from within, cheaper that way and who gives a shit about the ” non revenue ” sports anyway, SC sure doesn’t these days, hell, they don’t seem to care about the big 3 anymore.

Gomer spews his typical bullshit and the fawning local media slurps it up, the incompetent prick will probably fall into 7 wins and get another contract extension from the incompetent AD. The President might step in but she’s probably too busy putting out the numerous fires that are currently burning.

    What a dumpster fire.

    1. Mostly true, karma —- but may I offer a Point of Information? Helton did not make his typical Gomer sounds when he was interviewed at Media Day by Keely Eure. He didn’t let out a single “golly.” His sober tones indicated that he either has (1) already been told he’s out if he doesn’t win the Pac 12 or (2) he’s belatedly figured out that acting like a hay seed isn’t becoming or (3) he’s decided he doesn’t have to try so hard with the press anymore — if you lose, they hate you and if you win, they don’t matter anyway.

    LOL!

As if Lynn Swann has done anything to deserve a vacation…shit!

If the motherfucker isn’t on vacation, he’s out to lunch.

All on USC’s dime! Swann is a fucking disgrace!

      1. Pudly —mostly agree —except for the “valley” reference. The valley was made up of close knit neighbors and lovely neighborhoods. I sure loved playing touch football with my kids at Mason Park in Chatsworth —what a great community that was. I think they filmed Bad News Bears there. I kinda miss that place now that I’m in Maui.

      2. Guess it depends on the decades you lived there…and of course the part of the Valley you lived in. Location – Location – Location

      3. Bottom Line: I hope karma and tebow show some appreciation when USC is 3-0. [and….if we beat a very, very good Utah team at the coli —watch out]!

They say F & S are effective for ‘shock value’ when used sparingly.

Otherwise they just prove the writer/speaker doesn’t have the vocabulary to describe their thoughts.

  5. This is why Swann doesn’t deserve all of the blame.

When he is around, he is a hands off guy who lets others run the athletic department. That’s on Swann for sure and that’s his fault.

But when he is not around, the incompetence still continues. Which leads to the question – Who is incompetent when Swann isn’t there?

    1. Lopes and his minions are also to blame!
Swann’s Optics are so bad it’s embarrassing!
Lopes,Noriega and Ohr just do like like any form of Football traditions. Just money Money Money. They must be getting a bonus for every season ticket they sell or donations received…But with such a poor product on the field, FBI investigations and now Whistleblower lawsuits, those funds are drying up… USC is way behind their projections on Ticket sales!!!
