Important Announcement About USC Blog

When I started this blog 29 months ago, it was going to be more of a hobby after covering USC for more than 20 years.

I never imagined it would grow to its current size and attract such a loyal audience.

Well, now it’s time to grow even more. Today, I’m taking the InsideUSC blog to Sports Illustrated. The new address is https://www.si.com/college/usc/

The new USC blog will be the same in many ways but will have much more video, more recruiting and a stronger “community” area for comments. I hope you will join me at the new site for even more USC coverage.

      1. I read a biography written by a fellow Democrat about the Clintons and he said Bill was cheating on her beginning when they were dating!

      2. Make that “exactly, gt!” [I was actually watching the fucking thing and I got distracted —- like watching Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman in “Ishtar” —-so bad it’s almost fun]……..
[It’s supposed to be real edgy and cool —but real revolutionaries and real drug addicts and real extremist artists are laughing their asses off watching these losers]……..

  1. Anyone watching Lakers-Blazers?

IMHO, the Blazers are a tough match-up for LA. Port with a much better backcourt, and they can throw up a zone D as LA is not a great 3-shooting team.

    1. Oh man, Lillard and McCollum can light it up!
A few years ago, the two of them almost single handedly sent the Warriors–with KD and the Splash Brothers all healthy and bombing it–home for the playoffs!

      Agree!

      1. Hard to root for Portlandia and against the Lakers*, but damn their backcourt are ballers.

    1. That pretty much does it for tires. Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Continental will fill the void. Competing requires strong leadership. Not the case for Goodyear.

      1. If memory serves me correctly, there are few “American” brand of tire any longer. Non-American corporations own Goodrich and Firestone, I believe. Goodyear is still “American domiciled” and American made, even if they don’t respect the Police forces who protect their homes and offices and likely buy their tires for their police cruisers.

      3. One may be tone-deaf when one knows that a feckless electorate will always vote for them just because a (D) is next to their name on the ballot.*

*Same goes for my friends and family in the midwest who vote (R) without thinking.

    1. Well-written and well-spoken English continues to be the language of money in business. It is not about race, it is about communicating effectively so as to make and distribute money in the most effective manner.

A primary mandate of successful capitalism is the efficient distribution of capital.
Efficient markets are open, transparent, fair. All of these items support people of all race, color, creed, gender identity, age, physical ability.*

*It is when greedy, racists, misogynists, and narrow minded men manipulate these markets that they become inefficient and unfair.

      1. The great film director, David Lean, once commented that “filmmakers today don’t understand story so they say story isn’t important, they don’t understand character so they say character is unimportant and they don’t understand cinematography so they say cinematography is unimportant.”

        Netflix warning–smoking and nudity.
My warning–yeah, a rare nude corpse and plenty of tobacco. The violence is graphic.

  8. A bit of good news which I do not think has been mentioned in our recent discourse…

Pac 12 commish Larry (Tennis Larry?) Scott recently hired the great All-Pro and Hall of Famer Merten Hanks to run all Pac 12 CFB operations starting in September. From the brief review which I read, Mr. Hanks’ resume (both during his NFL career and since) is beyond superior! Take a moment to brush up on his credentials and recent history.
I rule my life with hope, and I hope that Mr. Hanks is the savior which Pac 12 CFB sorely needs.

The side bar story is that Tennis Larry may now concentrate on elevating Pac 12 tennis to a loftier position. Though I no longer play (and never did much), it would be nice to see the Pac 12 dominate Tennis.

  10. California pro sports teams are falling all over themselves to endorse Prop 16, which would repeal Prop 209 from the California Constitution, thus allowing the state to grant preferential treatment on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, and national origin. Friends of mine with a sense of humor have answered back with a petition demanding that these teams to allocate 15% of their positions to Asian Americans. (Asian Americans are about 15% of the California population.) Go ahead, sign it. You know you want to.
