Important Announcement About USC Blog

When I started this blog 29 months ago, it was going to be more of a hobby after covering USC for more than 20 years.

I never imagined it would grow to its current size and attract such a loyal audience.

Well, now it’s time to grow even more. Today, I’m taking the InsideUSC blog to Sports Illustrated. The new address is https://www.si.com/college/usc/

The new USC blog will be the same in many ways but will have much more video, more recruiting and a stronger “community” area for comments. I hope you will join me at the new site for even more USC coverage.

  2. I read a report today that U. S. Attorney Nora Dannehy left John Durham’s FISA probe because she felt she was “being rushed.” Let that set in: (If that report is true) after a 2 year investigation by the Inspector General [which detailed monumental corruption by the FBI] and an almost 2 year investigation by Durham himself, poor Nora couldn’t bring herself to wrap her portion of the case up AND, beyond that, had to leave the prosecution team altogether—due to feeling “rushed.” It should never take any prosecutor —even the worst of the worst— more than a year to wrap up a case as open and shut as this one —one in which those implicated have said on the record that loathe Trump and needed “an insurance policy” in the event he were elected.
    If these reports are true, what a pathetic POS & coward Dannehy must be.

        there is a long-running narrative in the NBA that it is “unfair” for teams (based at sea level) to come to the Mile High City, and that this is the reason that Denver enjoys a fine “home court” advantage. (The distance from Denver Int’l Airport to the Downtown hotels is part of that narrative.)

        With 18% less oxygen to draw upon at a mile high, there is some science to support this narrative, but these are quite possibly the finest trained athletes in the World. Suck on some oxygen while on the bench if you must. In the NBA you never play two nights in a row.

        Really stoked that my Nuggets TEAM* knocked off an over-rated squad of “selfish stars.”

        Nuggets-Lakers? I’m conflicted. Having Lebron and AD on the Lakers makes it a little easier for me.

        *Been a fan of Denver’s team since the days of David “Skywalker” Thomson and Alex English…even though the Lakers were still my #1.

      My theory (as I’ve expounded upon too many times previously) for the demise of the Pac 12 in CFB is the uber-liberalism along the West Coast. When I look at other regions which have no HS or College Football “gravitas,” I see the same problem. New York/NJ?
      Massachusetts/New England? Not exactly football recruiting “hotbeds.”

      Football is not inherently “liberal.” We could outline a long list of bullet points proving this. At this juncture, it does us no good to further develop the story. The Left Coast is not going to change ever. The CIF (and the private schools in CA) are going to spend a ton of cash on HS football only to send the best talent to the conservative dominant conferences (Big 12, ACC, SEC).

      There are enough “conservative” values in the B1G (Nb, Iowa, Indiana) to offset the liberal values in the B1G (Northwestern, Illinois, Madison Wisky) so as to get a CFB season accomplished.

      Pac 12? Nope. (even though Larry Scott and the Presidents may try a sham season).

      In my final analysis, what I find intriguing is how the secondary sports–Volleyball, track, baseball, swimming, Tennis etc–are no longer “dominated” by the “Conference of Champions.” In fact, it is becoming increasingly rare that a Pac 12 school or athlete wins a Natty. I find it Interesting watching how the Left Coast is losing all of its relevance in non-professional sport.

      1. Great points! I also noticed that USC, UCLA and The Indians used to take 2 or 3 NCs in Olympic sports every year and now they struggle to compete in womens’ volleyball.

      2. Very good post! My sense is that there are no major university chancellors/presidents in the pac -12 outside of ASU who have a productive vision of leadership. The rest are all just followers to the social justice cause du jour, and so the universities lose whatever identities they used to have. Folt might be the worst of this group. And that is saying something.
