Important Announcement About USC Blog

When I started this blog 29 months ago, it was going to be more of a hobby after covering USC for more than 20 years.

I never imagined it would grow to its current size and attract such a loyal audience.

Well, now it’s time to grow even more. Today, I’m taking the InsideUSC blog to Sports Illustrated. The new address is https://www.si.com/college/usc/

The new USC blog will be the same in many ways but will have much more video, more recruiting and a stronger “community” area for comments. I hope you will join me at the new site for even more USC coverage.

  1. Indeed Michele, but damn is it gonna be fun to watch Stepps and Christon run the ball.
A real O Coord would have a run game WITH BOTH IN THE BACKFIELD and/or Christon in the slot and in motion running misdirection plays. Wow, remember Lendale at tailback with Reggie in the slot or on the flank? Drove the D coordinators batty? (All they could do was sit their and soil their knickers.)

Damn, the possibilities for 2020-22 are (MOFO) endless! Would love to see the Trojans run 45 att/game and pass 45 per game. Will Harrell evolve? Will HC CH look in the mirror and see his future (figurehead).

All that said Michele, on 3rd and two with the game on the line? I’m giving it to Vavae.

    1. Yes, Thunder and Lighting 2.0! both in the backfield. And Christon is a GREAT pass catcher!

I hear you about Vavae. He holds onto the ball, which is huge. But I love the idea of Stepp and Christon both in the backfield. If they can stay healthy…

      1. Christon will be a real threat to Slovis out of the backfield, in motion on a swing, or as a check down! Linebacker vs Christon? Trouble.

    1. I’d love to see Apple, Amazon, etc exceed Saudi Aramco as the most valuable firm on the Planet. GO AMERICA GO! I believe 7 of the most valuable public firms in the World are in the USA.

The following (lengthy) quote is from Apple’s statement to the NY Times and Obama administration in 2015/6:

“Apple believes every company has a responsibility to pay its taxes, and as the largest taxpayer in the world, Apple pays every dollar it owes in every country around the world. We’re proud of the economic contributions we make to the countries and communities where we do business.

Far from being “untouched by the United States,” Apple pays billions of dollars in taxes to the US at the statutory 35 percent rate on investment income from its overseas cash.

Apple’s effective tax rate on foreign earnings is 21 percent — a figure easily calculated from public filings. This rate has been consistent for many years.

“The debate over Apple’s taxes is not about how much we owe but where we owe it. As the largest taxpayer in the world we’ve paid over $35 billion in corporate income taxes over the past three years, plus billions of dollars more in property tax, payroll tax, sales tax and VAT. We believe every company has a responsibility to pay the taxes they owe and we’re proud of the economic contributions we make to the countries and communities where we do business.

Under the current international tax system, profits are taxed based on where the value is created. The taxes Apple pays to countries around the world are based on that principle. The vast majority of the value in our products is indisputably created in the United States — where we do our design, development, engineering work and much more — so the majority of our taxes are owed to the US.” (end quote)

In my mind, Apple paying $35B in taxes in 3 years is doing one’s part. Old man Warren Buffett (Demo) pays far less than 20% in taxes, as he is mostly unemployed and makes his money on LT Cap Gains.

The US Corporate tax revisions in 2018 were absolutely necessary. With US Corp taxes at 35% prior, and Irish Corp Taxes at 12.5%, US firms would have violated their obligation to shareholders (mostly middle class American pensioners, retired teachers and firefighters, and 401k/IRA holders) had it continued to domicile in California at these rapacious tax rates. That said, with a Biden presidency this necessary tax revision will be reverted and US corporations will again be subject to unfair American anti-competitive rates.
