In my annual Christmas tradition, here is my all-time favorite USC picture.
Hollywood screen legend Greta Garbo was sent to USC in 1926 to pose for some publicity photos with the track team.
Garbo initially refused until MGM deducted $25 from her salary, which convinced her to head to campus and don a USC track singlet.
She is with a USC track assistant coach in the above photo.
Here she is with USC track coach Dean Cromwell.

And here she is with some members of the track team.

- This morning, four-star QB Nico Iamaleava of Warren High School announced his top 12 schools. USC did not make the cut. Did Iamaleava leave USC off his list because QB Malachi Nelson of Los Alamitos already committed?
Maybe. This will be a test of Lincoln Riley’s evaluation skills to see which one was better, kind of like Bryce Jones vs. DJ Uiagalelei.
Riley did get a commitment from 2023 five-star WR Zachariah Branch on Christmas Eve.
Mr. Wolf this was posted to you on a USC message board…Merry Christmas!
It’s a good thing, honestly. Thanks for letting us speak our mind on your blog site

Somebody tell Scott Wolf that Alabama’s quarterback’s name is Bryce Young, because I don’t want him to come across as an Idiot like myself. 😀👍🏼

Merry Christmas, Scott. I have this feeling it’s gonna take quite a bit of caginess to sail through the next sports year handing out nothing but left handed compliments —but if ever there were a man who could do it, it’s Scott Wolf.
Thanks for a totally unique take on EVERYTHING! Best wishes for a Happy & Healthy New Year!

Thanks, T.B. I have a sneaking suspicion 2022 is gonna be way better than 2021.

I agree…..assuming that they will have a season. I really don’t think that that is a given

We’ll have a season — things are never gonna be exactly normal again —but we’ll have a season……

Sounds like old Nico is afraid to compete. Maybe, SC should look elsewhere. When you are afraid to compete, that tells me that you don’t have that much confidence in yourself.

I agree….we’ll have a season. My question is whether that season will be like 2020 with half the games cancelled. Remember, we’re on the left coast where they cancel the game if one of your players sneezes

Yeah — in order to get back to normal, in sports, business and social life, we’re gonna have to come up with saner quarantine, lockdown and cancellation rules.

And good luck to the James Webb telescope on it’s way to unlock many of the secrets of the universe. Knowledge is power, and the truth is at hand.

I’m not a scientist, I don’t even play one on TV, but I have a feeling this Covid thing is playing out. It has mutated to a flu level. I’m not saying people won’t die from it, but people die from the flu every year.
In my family of four, two of us got the booster and two haven’t yet. One member of the non boosted group went to convention where AEW wrestlers were appearing. He started showing symptoms the next day.
Why was he at a wrestling convention, you might ask? Because he was bored by USC football under Clay Helton(especially my yelling at the TV), he found choreographed male grunting more entertaining.
I blame Clay Helton for the spread of Covid in my family. The two of us who had our booster shot got mild coughs and the restless wrestling fan got indigestion and diarrhea. We managed to snag a couple of self tests, they’re selling here like hotcakes at a Waffle House (thanks Helton -but we’re in TX so thanks Sark) and found out it wasn’t food poisoning, but Covid.
Anyway as I said, Covid has spread itself so thin and there are now meds to lessen symptoms, I expected we will either be dead or back to normal by next season. Unless you, like my family, have been stuck in an Air B&BB in TX and have watched gems like “Don’t look up” and believe that Covid is distraction to stop us from worrying about a planet killing comet. (Also blamed on Helton)

For those who are ready today, Boxing Day, to discuss football –Yahoo Sports just rated all Pac12 teams by star rating per player —USC is way out front of every other team….
