With little fanfare earlier this week, the College Football Hall of Fame announced its Class of 2022.
No one from USC made the class, which was surprising to some because Reggie Bush was on the ballot. But I wrote in August there was a campaign by some voters opposed to Bush being on the ballot.
“One of the things you are supposed to take into consideration is integrity,” said one of the voters in the group. “That is what bothers some of us.”
Apparently, the backlash was widespread enough to deny Bush.
Still, it had to be surprising to Bush that he did make it, given that he is a Heisman Trophy winner and received vigorous support from USC since being welcomed back to campus.
I’ve even heard USC wanted Bush to be placed on the ballot, which meant someone else got dropped. The other USC players on the ballot were safety Mark Carrier and offensive lineman Jeff Bregel.
Here are the players who made the College Football Hall of Fame:

As a very average California Intellectual Property attorney said when he was made fun of for being selected by California Lawyer Magazine as one of the “Ten Best” lawyers in the state, “It’s a popularity contest and I’m popular…and you’re not.”
Ladies and Gentleman I give you Gary Pinkel. And Reggie Bush.

Remind me again who was on the cover of the college football video game? Who’s the guy that NIL owes its beginning to? If NIL rules had been in place, he could have bought the hall of fame with the money earned during his college career.
Most hall of fame lists are of the who’s who in a sport, this is a list of who’s that?
In a court of law it was established that much of the evidence used in the Bush smear was fabricated to hide what was going on at Miami. I expect Paul Dee to make the hall soon (the biggest lying pieces of crap hall)

Reggie Bush and his parents are not the first people to make money illegally from boosters, wanna-be-agents or the peeps thst steer them, but the fact he stonewalled everyone and could’ve cleared PC of any wrong doing…F him.
Program and players suffered for years because of Reggie.
Has he ever acknowledged how he f’d over so many people?
Great college player, but I for one have no sympathy for him.

Understand the sentiment…totally. On the other hand, the whole “investigation” into Reggie’s involvement in his stepfather’s deal making was so biased, unfair and political that it still makes me puke…..

his parents already ‘F’ him…so you just pile on.
AS far as PC is concerned,he could have stayed and fought, SC could have have fought as Penn St did, N Carolina did,Ohio St. did and many others have done…Bush gave his all on the field of play…he has a right to always remain silent, and looking at you and your type of thinking or lack thereof, he should.

I just wish Reggie would have either paid the people he owed or once the story surfaced, have a smidge of integrity and not leave coaches twisting in the wind.

It doesn’t make me happy to say this….but….I think it’s always a good idea to ask yourself if your lawyer is keeping things alive for the sake of his pocketbook —[almost no lawyer wants to end a case on demurrer or summary judgement —they’d rather it go through pretrial, trial and appeal if possible — a few thousands of dollars vs. tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars]…..

Scooter,
So my question is, if and when Cam Newton comes up for the Hall of Fame, will all these voters remember that he and his dad took $185k to play at Auburn? Just wondering.

Yes, PT thank you x2.
There is ZERO possibility that Cam and father didn’t take $$ from Auburn as pops was shopping him around the SEC.
Plus, if memory serves, I think Cam owes a Florida student a laptop he stole, which kicked off this money-grab journey.

As long as you leave Reggie’s step-dad off the list, I think the “integrity” issue is resolved.

BRU McCoy in the transfer portal…..CAN ANYONE BLAME HIM FOR GETTING OUT OF HERE!………..His case was very poorly handled by the University of Southern California- Specifically, the WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST -MADE THE DECISION TO SEND HIM OUT OF TOWN A LONG TIME AGO, AND NEVER LET ANYONE KNOW SO THE ENTIRE TOPIC JUST DISAPPEARS.
BRU will be a fine WR for someone maybe even a linebacker. He’s a great athlete. I would not be surprised to see CHIPSTER got him to come to UCLA.

The guy obviously has issues. Pretty they were around before he got back to USC. Transferring out and then Helton stupidly taking him back has reached it’s obvious conclusion. Trying to blame USC for the kid being a head case is pretty pathetic. He is a former 5 star so I get why you all continue to suck him off.

Interesting group discussion here about many different topics, but is this Oklahoma Williams guy coming to SC or not? I have to know
And how can SC basketball be talked about as a possible Final-4 team when they cannot get by an average Stanford squad?
And Reggie Bush?– Well, he gave us a few years of excitement and more than a decade of wondering “Was he worth it to SC?”
There was even some talk about God being involved in SC affairs, but if God exists, this Spirit must be all, must be everything, so how can God not be involved?
That’s it, I am done. Good night and good luck.

IF we don’t get Caleb it’ll be cuz he’s worried about our o-line ….but I would think it’d be easy for Riley to bring in a pair of great tackles from another school [as a matter of fact I’d think his new o-line coach would be insisting on it]…..

By the way, John — you’re right — the universe is composed of one substance. Either everything is matter [and consciousness is a product of matter] or everything is consciousness [and matter is a product of consciousness]. I think the primacy of consciousness is dramatically more satisfying [whether atheists like it or not].

If you’re watching this game you’d see why Enfield sucks as a coach. The Oregon St Coach watched the Stanford game and is running the same defense against USC. Enfield won’t adjust and they’re down 10.

UCLA lost to Oregon earlier so a win here prob would have them ranked higher than USC as Stanford is actually a good team while Oregon is currently garbage. Also Stanford was a road loss not like UCLA’s home loss tonight.

Michael: Do you think Bru McCoy had a good case if he would have taken it to court. My thinking is yes especially the way USC kept him hanging for 6 months. Looks to me that Bru’s parents decided to move on, and just transfer to another school. Boy, would I have loved to see Bru put up a fight.
I have a feeling Bru and his family are disgusted with USC, and he will transfer over to UCLA as revenge.

I don’t know enough of the facts to comment on the strength of a case, tommyd — but I do know (based on watching all his interviews) that Bru was a quality person (with some troubles) who was very much worth saving. I also know that all Carol and Mike’s talk about reaching out to support “black student athletes” is hypocritical in the extreme.

Let’s be positive on the basketball team! It appears they lost a bit of their edge since the covid break which is quite understandable. We should be proud how they fought back tonight for the win vs. Oregon State after a poor first half.
14-1 is excellent. Saturday night’s game vs. Oregon will be a battle, and we must bring our A game.

tommyd –I think comebacks like last night’s are very healthy exercises for any sports team. Yeah, the team DID comeback from the fucked up covid break a bit sluggish — but the last 15 minutes against Oregon State cured what was ailing them.

Oregon St lost that game more than USC won it their best player fouled out b/c he got a technical they got a couple more techs and a pair of flagrants. The last 3 minutes were good but that’s just b/c the dude that Elsa’s blocking everyone’s shots fouled out. Mobley went into the block and got 3 easy hoops and OSU started playing the foul game and it didn’t work so they lost by 10.

Replying to MG’s idea of consciousness and matter being tied together,
I am conscious of Bru McCoy leaving, and how it matters to one Caleb Williams.
So he has no one blocking for him, and no one to throw to. So there is not enough matter present to lure Williams in. Did SC play this one correctly, throwing (away)
a Dart in hopes of it landing a Williams?
