USC Sunday Buzz: Time To Appreciate Another Trojan

This is a coincidence I never expected this weekend.

I saw an episode of Star Trek and a member of the crew was a guy I recognized from several Twilight Zone episodes but didn’t know his name. I didn’t think it would go farther than that.

But today I was looking at some old USC photos and I see the same face. So I do some research.

Here is actor Paul Comi performing in plays at USC in 1965.

Paul Comi (center) performs in the Thornton Wilder play, “The Skin of Our Teeth” at USC.

It turns out Comi graduated from USC in 1958, became a successful actor and actually went back to USC to get his master’s of arts in 1965. That must of excited the students in the drama school.

He was also a three-time Purple Heart veteran who served in Korea.

Comi appeared in three episodes of The Twilight Zone, including the classics “The Odyssey of Flight 33” and “People Are Alike All Over.”

  • USC used to draw big stars like it was no big deal. Here is Judy Garland (far left) in Demember, 1965, at the DKA awards, which was a cinema school event. Gregory Peck and Lucille Ball also attended that night.

    1. REAL SLOW STEVE. WHEN JUDY GARLAND WAS A YOUNG GIRL WORKING AT THE STUDIO THEY WOULDNT LET HER EAT. THEY KEPT HER ON A SUPER STRICT DIET. FOR A TIME SHE LIVED AT THE STUDIO. I ALSO HEARD THEY GAVE HER UPPERS AND DOWNERS. MAYBE THATS WHY SHE HAD SO MUCH TROUBLE LATER ON IN HER LIFE

    2. Scott has a broader mission than bringing us sports, steveg —he keeps us entertained…in general. Hey! Maybe we should think of this site as “InsideUSCInGeneral with Scott Wolf”…..
[btw, Ya gotta admit it was good to pause a moment to remember the crew & passengers of Flight 33 — it musta been so fucked up to look out of the cockpit and see dinosaurs]….

  1. Random Thought while watching JFK Movie. Donald Sutherland asks Kevin Costner 1: Why was Kennedy killed? 2. Who benefited? 3. Who had the Power to cover it up? Fast forward 47 years. 1. Why was USC Sanctioned? 2. Who benefited? 3. Who had the Power to Cover it up? The answers to #2 and #3 are obvious, which answers #1.
