Depending on who you talk to, Clay Helton will either be fired this weekend or return for next season. Someone called me today and said James Franklin will be hired. Just a warning: A lot of things can happen that contradict each other. When USC hired Lane Kiffin in 2010, it sent a contract to Jack Del Rio. Did that mean it wanted to hire … Continue reading A Status Check On Where Things Stand

With USC playing Notre Dame on Saturday, Clay Helton decided to compare himself to Irish coach Brian Kelly. What a mistake that was for Helton. The USC coach talked about how Notre Dame went 4-8 in 2016 and bounced back enough to be undefeated this season and contending for a spot in the College Football Playoff. But Helton left out a few details. Kelly took … Continue reading If It’s Friday, It’s Time For A USC Notes Column

The fact Jack Sears does not start is mind boggling. But why has linebacker Palaie Gaoteote received so little time since he filled in for Cameron Smith? There was also then-sophomore Myles Murao, who has been offered a scholarship by USC, UCLA, Notre Dame and Michigan among others. No wonder JT Daniels doesn’t know what it means to be hit … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: JT Daniels Had A Lot Of Support Last Season

I’m told from people who listen on the radio that the USC announcers asked fans not to sell their tickets to Notre Dame fans. USC coach Clay Helton made his own plea Wednesday night. “I know the results are not what we wanted, but this is a group of young men that has done a lot for the program and for this university. “I hope … Continue reading USC Pleas For Fans At Notre Dame Game
