Some notes following the USC-Stanford game: I’m not liking those gold tights Jordan Addison wore (pictured) vs. Stanford. USC is ranked No. 7 in the Associated Press poll and No. 8 in the latest coaches’ poll. Safety Max Williams had seven tackles, an interception, a forced fumble and a recovered fumble. Linebacker Eric Gentry led the defense with 10 tackles. Wide receiver Terrell Bynum, a … Continue reading USC Sunday Buzz: Notes From Stanford
USC’s offense was unstoppable in the first half and then got a little sloppy in the second half. USC got outscored 14-6 in the second half. But I’m not worried about the offense. The defense didn’t impress me at all. Way too many yards (441). The secondary looks as shaky as ever, especially when your No. 1 cornerback Mekhi Blackmon has three pass interference penalties. … Continue reading Discuss The USC-Stanford Game
USC has five pass interference penalties overall. Mekhi Blackmon has three pass interference penalties. Why is Jordan Addison returning punts? It’s insane. USC 35, Stanford 14 at halftime. Offense: Very good. Defense: Quite bad. Does it matter how bad the USC defense is with the offense outstanding? The USC defense looks atrocious at times. I’m not a fan of Jordan Addison’s gold tights. Jordan Addison … Continue reading USC-Stanford Live Blog
From the minute USC’s schedule came out, I had this game circled as a victory. I don’t think Stanford can stop Caleb Williams and the Cardinal have a recent history of not pulling games out. Now as the game approaches, the slow doubt creeps in. Some of it is fostered by USC’s defense last week. I can imagine Tanner McKee doing a lot more damage … Continue reading My USC-Stanford Pick
Caleb Williams vs. Tanner McKee. Jordan Addison vs. Kyu Blu Kelly. Travis Dye/Austin Jones vs. E.J. Smith. And all before a packed stadium of 50,000 fans! Would you believe 40,000? Would you believe 30,000? How about 25,000 and a dancing tree? Anyways, time to pick a score. I’ll pick later. By the way, the does the USC rally look lightly attended Friday night? What a … Continue reading Morning Buzz: Pick The USC-Stanford Score
There are so many stories about Hal Bedsole (No. 19 in photo) besides what I mentioned in today’s column. Here’s one: In 1963, USC lost to Washington, 22-7, in Seattle. After the game, a reporter asked Bedsole the following question. “Why did the team play like they didn’t know what they were doing?” Bedsole responded: “As a team, we played poorly and were outcoached by … Continue reading The USC Friday Column Supplement
