Morning Buzz: USC-Arizona State Feud Heats Up

It looks like Arizona State coaches are fed up with USC’s “Take back the West” slogan for recruiting. Here are some tweets from Sun Devils assistant coaches Prentice Gill and Chris Hawkins. And then USC assistant coach Donte Williams responded: The irony is Gill was a USC graduate assistant in 2018 and Hawkins is a former USC safety and was a graduate assistant in 2019. … Continue reading Morning Buzz: USC-Arizona State Feud Heats Up

The “Experts” Weigh In On USC Leaving Pac-12

I see Colin Cowherd and Clay Travis endorsed USC leaving the Pac-12. That’s enough reason to think this is a bad idea. When the blowhards endorse something, beware. Cowherd is the guy who said, “I don’t know how you could vote for anybody but Clay Helton at USC,” for national coach of the year in 2016 when USC finished third in the Pac-12. Here’s the … Continue reading The “Experts” Weigh In On USC Leaving Pac-12

USC Notes: Offensive Line Doesn’t Impress New Coaches

I’m hearing a lot of USC’s new coaching staff (too many members to recount) has the same concerns as many of us who watched the Trojans last season: The offensive line needs help for next season and is going to be a weak spot. It’s apparent on film and apparent from who is coming back, is what the new coaches have said. And I’ve yet … Continue reading USC Notes: Offensive Line Doesn’t Impress New Coaches

Why Will Clay Helton Turn It Around?

A: You look at the last two (New Year’s Six) games we’ve been in in the last 10 years, Clay was the head coach for both of them. REACTION: Did Bohn watch the Cotton Bowl loss to … Continue reading Why Will Clay Helton Turn It Around?

Morning Buzz: Would USC Really Leave The Pac-12?

USC athletic director Mike Bohn said this week, “all options are the table” when asked if the Trojans would consider leaving the Pac-12 in an interview with the USC 247Sports site. I view this as a way to gain leverage more than any serious consideration to leave the Pac-12, despite the incompetence of Larry Scott and lagging TV deals. This will be hard for some … Continue reading Morning Buzz: Would USC Really Leave The Pac-12?

USC Teetering On NCAA Bubble

ESPN analyst Joe Lundardi now has USC as one of his final two teams to make the NCAA Tournament. Thursday’s game vs. Arizona should be interesting as Nick Rakocevic and Jonah Mathews are battling the flu. USC’s NET ranking is still 47th. By contrast, UCLA is 76th. But obviously things can change this week. USC offered a scholarship to wide receiver De’Coldest Crawford of Shreveport, La. … Continue reading USC Teetering On NCAA Bubble
