Some follow-up thoughts on today’s Bloody Sunday: Are all these moves being set so Graham Harrell can take over with a staff he wants in 2021? Is USC going to end up with more coaches from Texas when this is all said and done? Todd Orlando wants to bring his own people in and presumbly someone who worked with him at Houston or Texas. Will … Continue reading Thoughts On Super Sunday Purge
Defensive backs coach Greg Burns, defensive line coach Chad Kauha’aha’a and linebackers coach Johnny Nansen have been fired. Now we know why Nansen was not at Junior Day. Todd Orlando will be bringing in his replacements. I wrote “USC” fired the coaches in the headline because Clay Helton has no control over his program. He told Nansen two weeks ago he could stay and be … Continue reading “USC” Firing Three Coaches
Has Graham Harrell shown himself to be much of a recruiter yet? It’s based on more than whoever USC signs at quarterback because he is the offensive coordinator and responsible for the entire offense. Besides, he recruits other positions too. But I ask for two reasons: He doesn’t exactly have the personality that says, “great recruiter.” And he seems to spend a lot of time … Continue reading Just How Good A Recruiter Is Graham Harrell?
USC had around 60 players at its Junior Day on Saturday. Clay Helton told the recruits USC has had more first-round draft picks than any other schools. How many under him? Sam Darnold and Adoree Jackson. I hear Johnny Nansen was not at Junior Day. This is odd since he is the recruiting coordinator. Maybe he was interviewing for a job. USC lost to No. … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Last Word On Junior Day
USC is telling recruits that Todd Orlando will also coach the linebackers. This makes sense because I wrote previously Orlando’s a front-seven guy when it comes to coaching expertise. This is also fits with Johnny Nansen moving to special teams. The crack staff is complete! Orlando can’t be worse than Clancy Pendergast, right? Among the players USC offered today were wide receiver Makai Cope of … Continue reading Todd Orlando Has Two Jobs
Craig Naivar is tweeting about USC, so that apparently is the way it becomes official that he is the new safeties coach. USC, of course, has not even put out a press release yet. Naivar is going to coach safeties. Some readers thought he might also coach special teams because he did that at Texas, but I wrote more than two weeks ago Helton wants … Continue reading Craig Naivar Is At Junior Day
