USC Morning Buzz: Who Makes The Call On Starting QB?
I spoke to a well-placed source Sunday about how the starting quarterback decision will be made? “It will be decided by (Clay) Helton and (Graham) Harrell together,” the source said. “They might not agree but Helton will be involved and have plenty of say.” This confirmed what I suspected. Kliff Kingsbury was going to make the decision by himself but Harrell doesn’t quite have that … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Who Makes The Call On Starting QB?
Just Call USC “Quarterback U.”
It’s so hard to track the QB spin when it comes to USC. JT Daniels was the perfect QB. Now Kedon Slovis is so good he might start. And Bryce Young of Mater Dei is the best 5-10 (or so) QB in the nation who might start in two years according to the recruiting experts. How do other schools compete when they don’t get any … Continue reading Just Call USC “Quarterback U.”
USC Sunday Buzz: Three NFL Hall Of Famers And One A.D.
Here’s USC athletic director Lynn Swann with two NFL greats — James Lofton and Charlie Joiner — at an autograph show in Chantilly, Va., on Saturday. Lofton and Joiner didn’t have five of their USC teams competing on campus Saturday. Or two of their employees recently fired and charged with federal crimes. They also don’t make $3-4 million per year and then need to do … Continue reading USC Sunday Buzz: Three NFL Hall Of Famers And One A.D.
A Mistake-Free Spring For USC

USC had one penalty in an 84-play scrimmage before 23,000 at the Coliseum on April 16, 2016. So one penalty in 84 plays in front of a big crowd at the Coliseum vs. one … Continue reading A Mistake-Free Spring For USC
Another Stop On The Lynn Swann Golf Tour
You already know Lynn Swann was in Virginia today for an autograph show. But I just found out Swann was at the TPC at Sawgrass golf course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., on March 10. Swann was attending a charity golf tournament run by Jim Furyk, who has what sounds like a great foundation. The charity event ran March 10-11 so Swann might have been … Continue reading Another Stop On The Lynn Swann Golf Tour
USC Holds Sort-Of Scrimmage No. 2
USC doesn’t really hold full scrimmages anymore. It holds live-tackling periods, which then can be dissected by everyone. Matt Fink completed a long pass to Michael Pittman and threw two short TD passes to Devon Williams and Jack Webster. Amon-Ra St. Brown caught a short pass from Kedon Slovis and then ran downfield for a long gain. Slovis also threw a TD pass to tight end … Continue reading USC Holds Sort-Of Scrimmage No. 2
